Ugh this was not advertised well. Group sex scenes often but gives rape vibes. Stockholm syndrome issues and poor character development. Cringey the whole way through.
Only positive is some of the narration is good.

Narcissists Bed Time Story

MC is the most narcissistic, childish personality and try as I might, I can't finish this. I got halfway through book 2 and gave up. I tried to like it, but I cringed the entire time. The MC demands food and shopping regularly while the world is supposedly ending. She whines and throws tantrums. She threatens to leave her boyfriends if they fail to bring her the snack she wants, and they oblige because I guess she's just that amazing. She makes literally 1 friend who she "saves" from a bully but then proceeds to bully her 1 friend - "go do this thing you don't want to do for me and report back to me or else I'll embarass you in front of a bunch of people". MC tells the friend how amazingly badass, smart, funny, talented, and powerful she is regularly as well as literally anyone else that will hear it. It's like a self assured 6 year old was given a woman's body. Maybe the characters in the book bought it, but this reader sure didn't. There is no depth to the characters. No character development or relationship development. A Supreme narcissist could read this book and relate to her. I can't.

I'm a RD fan. I have 20+ of her books and this is the first one I felt disappointed with. The story is so so and the characters are severely underdeveloped. Too many romance writers make the chick fall in love with the dude too soon. RD usually spends a lot of time developing the characters first... but this one felt too fast and sloppy. Prison break, they love each other, the end.
