Furst & Guidall. A winning combination
Revisado: 04-21-24
Furst’s prose seem poetic when he’s describing places or memories. I repeated some of the passages over again, for the pleasure of listening. And Guidall animates the story; spot on as always.

Historia
A wonderful tale of a young man’s coming of age, Zorba the Greek has been a classic of world literature since it was first translated into English in 1952 and made into an unforgettable movie with Anthony Quinn. Zorba, an irrepressible, earthy hedonist, sweeps his young disciple along as he wines, dines, and loves his way through a life dedicated to fulfilling his copious appetites. Zorba is irresistible in this charming audio production by veteran narrator George Guidall.

Historia
Former special-ops soldier and now an analyst for the think tank Vektor, Max Anger would kill to move on from the scars of his past - if only for the sake of Pashie, his girlfriend and fellow operative, who wants out of the battle zone. For them, a normal life is just one more dangerous uncertainty. Especially now that evil is hitting closer to home. Sofia Karlsson of the Swedish police wants Max’s help in a high-profile and high-stakes murder investigation: the hunt for a serial killer stalking the streets of Stockholm, who’s eliminating his victims in gruesome ways.

Monotonous Narration
Revisado: 06-25-19
The narrator, Cronin, barely differentiates between the characters' voices, or the narrative lines -- not in tone, timber or unique vocal characteristics. (Cronin's 33-year-old woman's voice sounds more worn and weary than his seasoned sea captain's.) So the characters lack depth, sounding confusingly similar to each other and the narrative lines.
And it's a slow starter, this book. I've listened for an hour and am pretty bored.
One Credit ill spent.
