Historia
In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

Fantastic storytelling!
I actually knew someone who left the pharma company I worked for to take a sales position with Theranos. That was back in 2014. Thank goodness she got out of there and landed on her feet elsewhere.
The degree of hubris that Holmes and Balwan displayed was sickening. I have the highest respect for Erica Chung, Tyler Schultz and all the others who had the courage to stand up to these corporate thugs.
Carryrou did a great job laying out the story and putting the listener in the moment.
This was scandal was even more egregious because it put patient safety at risk. Holmes and Balwan should serve every second of their prison sentences and never be permitted to work in the industry again.

Historia
Seventy years ago, more than 6000 Allied ships carried more than a million soldiers across the English Channel to a 50-mile-wide strip of the Normandy coast in German-occupied France. It was the greatest sea-borne assault in human history. The code names given to the beaches where the ships landed the soldiers have become immortal: Gold, Juno, Sword, Utah, and especially Omaha, the scene of almost unimaginable human tragedy.

Neptune Is A Must Read For All Students Of Naval History
Revisado: 03-03-23
As a student of Professor Symonds at the Naval Academy many years ago, I quickly learned that he was a master storyteller.
His research and ability to bring all the key players to life in Neptune is unmatched. And no historian I’ve ever read comes close to having his gift for educating while entertaining.
I’ve read nearly all of Professor Symonds books. Neptune was the first that I listened to on Audible. And hearing his voice once again took me back to my time at Annapolis, sitting in his class, listening to him educate us all through the power of storytelling.
I’m proud to say that I have been a student of American and Naval History for all of my adult life. And I have Craig Symonds to thank for that. Well done, Professor!!

Historia
In Saving Capitalism, Robert Reich reveals the entrenched cycles of power and influence that have damaged American capitalism, perpetuating a new oligarchy in which the 1 percent get ever richer and the rest - middle and working class alike - lose ever more economic agency, making for the greatest income inequality and wealth disparity since World War II.

A Much Needed Wake Up Call
Revisado: 01-01-23
Robert Reich does an outstanding job identifying the problem. He then goes into the various causes in a way just about anyone can understand. And most importantly, he provides workable solutions that will not only make capitalism more sustainable, but will also preppie democracy. The question will be whether or not we have the political will to see it through.
