What Happened ? I am so saddened
Revisado: 02-05-25
I feel so apprehensive writing this review. I don’t write many reviews because I love books so much and I know it is one’s own imagination.
However, sadly, after the first two books, that I was absolutely and completely dedicated to these characters.
I wanted to see Sophie end up with the man of her dreams. I wanted them to figure out which time they wanted to live in. I wanted so much for them.
As a lover of the time travel genre, Exile really has me confused.
I thought about writing to the author, Rosalind Tate, and asking her some questions, but I don’t want to be offensive.
I am really curious about a few things. I feel like there was some political correctness that had to take place because that’s the modern world we live in that really did nothing to uplift the story.
I feel as a Bible believing Christian. I am even more confused with the 666 reference.
I’m not such a prude that I don’t read fantasy and I do watch television programs in the same genre I was a Game of Thrones fan.
Maybe listening to it audibly, it loses something and maybe I need to see the written word, but essentially I feel being told that the characters you love had lineage from the devil (Lucifer), really puts a bad taste in my mouth.
It was not a great story line, even if that doesn’t bother you. Good verses Evil can be very interesting story lines but this wasn’t that.
I don’t think I am going to get the next three books and I was ready to make the purchase.
I can’t guarantee I won’t because I would love to see what happens to the characters but today I don’t think it’s a purchase I would make.
I wish we could as readers talk, so if anybody has anything to help clarify things they might have understood from a story, that I missed.
This book went off the rails in ways that did not elevate it and I don’t understand why an editor wouldn’t have helped the author more.
So much went that has nothing to do with the original plot and it’s sort of ends it for me.
I don’t want post spoilers, I’m really disappointed and sad. I’ve spent all these hours with these characters and now I have to say goodbye on a bad Note.
Maybe another genre as a pallet cleanser and I will fill different. I hope this is read with sincerity of a personal opinion and not meant to be derogatory to the author. I love these characters. I will miss them.
Lastly Katy Sobey is amazing as a narrator and I will go look for other books from her. When she does each character voice, you know who it is by the by the sound the accent the cadence. She just nails all the voices and I loved that as soon as the talking started in that characters voice, you knew who it was she is amazing.

Historia
Imagine that you live on a picturesque communal garden square, an oasis in urban London where your children run free, in and out of other people's houses. You've known your neighbors for years and you trust them. Implicitly. You think your children are safe. But are they really? On a midsummer night, as a festive neighborhood party is taking place, preteen Pip discovers her 13-year-old sister Grace lying unconscious and bloody in a hidden corner of a lush rose garden. What really happened to her?

Unbelivable acts of young children (including sexual)
Revisado: 12-04-21
I am returning this book - the story line should have been with 20 somethings not 12 and 13 year olds.
It was also hard to accept parents would be so blind to there children living in such close proximity.
General disappointment in this concept -

Historia
It is a perfect July morning, and Elle, a 50-year-old happily married mother of three, awakens at “The Paper Palace” - the family summer place she has visited every summer of her life. But this morning is different: Last night, Elle and her oldest friend, Jonas, crept out the back door into the darkness and had sex with each other for the first time, all while their spouses chatted away inside. Now, Elle will have to decide between the life she has made with her genuinely beloved husband and the life she always imagined she would have had with her childhood love.

Depressing and all over the place
Revisado: 08-05-21
The reader Nan Macnamera was very good, she did accents and transitioned male to female quite well, that is the only positive hence a four star for performance. I am shocked Reese Witherspoon put her name to this. I am wondering if she actually really read it.
The readers voice was far to classy for the appalling and graphic sex scenes, which included child abuse. The F bomb was in way too much for no reason other than shock value.
I am not a prude but sex scenes either need to be part of the story for a reason or stimulating and sexy. These were just crass and gross.
This story went all over the place , I kept waiting for each little story to equate to a satisfying finale- instead you get a open ended view across the pond.
I should have ended it within a couple chapters but that hopeful feeling this was going somewhere lingered. I am sitting here writing this review parked in my car as I just finished it - I played the last 30 seconds over three times to see if I missed a big moment. Nope dead space ugh! What a long 12 hours -

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

What the heck!!!
Revisado: 11-13-20
I spent all this time getting to know the characters and then poof it’s over like a Lifetime movie - even the last sentence read sounded like she wanted to say more - a bad guy gets off too easy - the main female disappears at the end - she had been strong throughout and then after getting some really bad news just cuts the cake ! What the heck - I am so sad , I believe this is my first audible review and now I am returning this book - don’t bother with this it will leave you unfulfilled
