Historia
In this classic of "fringe" literature, the enlightened sage, Valiant Thor (also known as "The Stranger at the Pentagon"), discusses the various ways one can concentrate, tone, and rebuild one's "Nerve Force" or "Vril" power. A must-have for modern spiritual searchers wanting to know more about Venusian healing methods.

The hardcopy version of this book is excellent. However, the audiobook narration attempts to read all the tables and it comes across terribly.

Historia
Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

Not sure why Bill Bryson chose this.
Revisado: 08-15-22
It seemed a bit much like an effort to capture readers interested in history. Bryson did not really supply an new information. I don't think he is qualified to speak on these topics, and often his writing stops when the really interesting parts come up.

Historia
In our unique genomes, every one of us carries the story of our species - births, deaths, disease, war, famine, migration, and a lot of sex. But those stories have always been locked away - until now. Who are our ancestors? Where did they come from? Geneticists have suddenly become historians, and the hard evidence in our DNA has completely upended what we thought we knew about ourselves. Acclaimed science writer Adam Rutherford explains exactly how genomics is completely rewriting the human story - from 100,000 years ago to the present.

Interesting, but now much new
Revisado: 08-15-22
The author is a geneticist and uses this opportunity to wax long into genetics research. He occasionally is guilty of self-aggrandizing and spends too much time defending his views.

Historia
In Our Time contains several early Hemingway classics, including the famous Nick Adams stories "Indian Camp", "The Doctor and the Doctor's Wife", "The Three Day Blow", and "The Battler", and introduces listeners to the hallmarks of the Hemingway style: a lean, tough prose, enlivened by an ear for the colloquial and an eye for the realistic that suggests, through the simplest of statements, a sense of moral value and a clarity of heart.

Historia
There are certain defining events that occur to people. The sort of things we tend to use as markers in the timetables of our lives. Birth and Deaths. Marriages and Divorces. Windfalls and Calamities. They become the things that other things happen before and after. These events scramble our sensibilities to leave us blinking at the landscape like we've never seen it before. I was exploded at about seven o'clock in the morning, May 27, 1975, down a long, dusty road outside of Medford, Oregon. It's taken this long for all the pieces to come back together again - and here they are.

Island of the Blue Dolphins is the remarkable story of a strange and beautiful Indian girl who lives a serene and courageous life as the solitary survivor on an island off the California coast. Left behind when the rest of her tribe fled, she waits, year after year, for a ship to come for her. She fights for her very survival, building a shelter, hunting for food, and making weapons to stave off her enemies, the wild dogs who took her brother.

This is a great story and every person should read it. The producers efforts to procure a narrator with an indigenous accent didn't pay off. The reading was very monotonous and done without any energy.

Revisado: 08-15-22
The content is intriguing and well written. The narration - not so much. The narrator accent was not pleasing and his voice overly sibilant. I know the producersssss of this audiobook have accesssss to sibilancssse filtersssss. The narrator's accent was a bit annoying especially talking about "syamples from the myantle reveal a dynyamic core."
