Historia
Alexei Navalny began writing Patriot shortly after his near-fatal poisoning in 2020. It is the full story of his life: his youth, his call to activism, his marriage and family, his commitment to challenging a world super-power determined to silence him, and his total conviction that change cannot be resisted—and will come. Patriot is Navalny’s final letter to the world: a moving account of his last years spent in the most brutal prison on earth; a reminder of why the principles of individual freedom matter so deeply; and a rousing call to continue the work for which he sacrificed his life.

intelligence and honesty about life and purpose
Revisado: 12-04-24
I was a big fan of Navalny already, and this book gives deep insight into his thinking and purpose. Also had details of particular oligarch crimes and the operations of the Russian justice system.

Our insatiable demand for animals - for jewelry, pets, medicine, meat, trophies, and fur - is driving a worldwide poaching epidemic, threatening the continued existence of countless species. Rachel Nuwer, an award-winning science journalist with a background in ecology, takes listeners on a narrative journey to the front lines of the trade: to killing fields in Africa, traditional medicine black markets in China, and wild meat restaurants in Vietnam. some good points
Revisado: 07-01-22
The author makes some good points about how to raise kids and fix societal problems. However be aware that the author pushes socialist ideas like empathy (feel sorry for people and helping them because you want to engage in altruistic charity) rather than a rational approach based on enlightened self-interest. Also not sure if it's a good idea to teach kids to trust people in a world where they will eventually discover most people aren't trustworthy.

Historia
Hybrid war, grey-zone warfare, unrestricted war: Today, traditional conflict - fought with guns, bombs, and drones - has become too expensive to wage, too unpopular at home, and too difficult to manage. In an age when America threatens Europe with sanctions, and when China spends billions buying influence abroad, the world is heading for a new era of permanent low-level conflict, often unnoticed, undeclared, and unending.

important insight
Revisado: 04-10-22
This book is packed with important insights about trends in government, politics, and war. Many things going on in the world are scary and I appreciated the tone of realism but also optimism in some areas. I hope Prof Galeotti will consider the issue of development banking for his next work. What do they say they are doing? What are they actually doing?

Historia
Are you tired of feeling f*cked up? If you are, Gary John Bishop has the answer. In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

Historia
Batman is one of the most compelling and enduring characters to come from the Golden Age of Comics, and interest in his story has only increased through countless incarnations since his first appearance in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. Why does this superhero without superpowers fascinate us? What does that fascination say about us? Batman and Psychology explores these and other intriguing questions about the masked vigilante, including: Does Batman have PTSD? Why does he fight crime? Why as a vigilante? Why the mask, the bat, and the underage partner?

socialist book promoted as libertarian book

I am absolutely shocked that this book is a contender for an award from the Libertarian Futurist Society. The book has strong socialist undertones. And, anyway, the story isn't very good.
