Historia
Blending intimate stories with the trenchant analysis that has become her signature, Manne shows why fatphobia has become a vital social justice issue. Over the last several decades, implicit bias has waned in every category, from race to sexual orientation, except one: body size. Manne examines how anti-fatness operates—how it leads us to make devastating assumptions about a person’s attractiveness, fortitude, and intellect, and how it intersects with other systems of oppression.

Powerful.
Revisado: 01-20-20
The most impactful element of this book is the inclusion of so many of the sister survivors. To hear their voices and their stories from their mouths is incredibly moving. I was teary-eyed several times as I listened to their words. What a powerful story of sisterhood and survival!

Historia
Recruited by the US Army and Navy from small towns and elite colleges, more than 10,000 women served as codebreakers during World War II. While their brothers and boyfriends took up arms, these women moved to Washington and learned the meticulous work of codebreaking. Their efforts shortened the war, saved countless lives, and gave them access to careers previously denied to them.

Such an important piece of history!
Revisado: 05-24-19
This book is not only well written and read, but the story it tells is such a critical (if often overlooked) piece of our history. I gained a much clearer picture of not only the criticality and challenges of codebreaking, but of the lives of these amazing women who stepped into roles they could not have previously imagined. Roles that changed the war. Roles that changed the world.

Historia
Nadia Murad was born and raised in Kocho, a small village of farmers and shepherds in Northern Iraq. A member of the Yazidi community, she and her brothers and sisters lived a quiet life. Nadia had dreams of becoming a history teacher or opening her own beauty salon. On August 15, 2014, when Nadia was just 21 years old, this life ended. Islamic State militants massacred the people of her village, executing men who refused to convert to Islam and women too old to become sex slaves.

A powerful story everyone needs to hear
Revisado: 01-14-19
This is a book I would recommend to everyone. It tells a story that has been repeated in the lives of so many across the nations. It happens far too often. It is a tale of struggle, of violation, of terror, and of not just survival but of triumph. A must read!

A book so good, I had to buy a hard copy:)
Revisado: 08-13-18
An excellent book! So many amazing tips and ideas to not only save money/spend less, but on how to live life to the fullest and in the way God intended. The best part? She is so “real” - a woman with struggles I could identify with and who knows what the “average” family looks like. So many extra resources are available on her website also. Just awesome! (I really did go and buy a hard copy after listening to it! I’m planning to go through it again with a highlighter😉)

A powerful story everyone should hear
Revisado: 06-22-18
This is such a powerful story of hurt, healing, and hope. I was at once heartbroken for this young woman and awed by her strength. The very fact she read her own story speaks to the incredible woman she has become. You will be touched by it and you will be changed!
