good set of lectures
Revisado: 11-01-17
It was a good discussion of western thoughts of what evil is throughout known history. The lectures weren't what I was expecting, but I enjoyed listening nonetheless.

fairly information dense
Revisado: 04-01-17
it took a little bit to get used to the instructor's speaking pattern. otherwise, I found this to be a thoroughly discussion of sleep, what we know, what we believe, and areas where more research needs to be done.

The degree of our aggressive impulses? These questions fall into the scientific province of behavioral biology, the field that explores interactions between the brain, mind, body, and environment that have a surprising influence on how we behave.

This guy is great
Revisado: 01-10-17
I love listening to Dr Sapolski. he's entertaining and educational. I listened to his talk on stress and its short and long term effects on the body before this. probably going to listen to both again sometime this year. He makes the information simple to digest, but I want to make sure I didn't miss anything important.

Interesting audio
Revisado: 10-12-16
Well, I enjoyed listening to this. I expected it to be more global, but it does cover daily life in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and England.
The lecturer is very knowledgeable on the subject at hand. He seems to rely heavily on writings and data gleaned from archeological records (he resists speculating more than what is absolutely necessary). at points it felt like he focused on the upper to middle upper classes and city life, which makes sense.

this was a tough one for me
Revisado: 07-18-16
the book was tough to listen to. I had trouble starting alert while listening.
there was some basics on science, but it was more presented as fact instead of a topic for discussion. the points made are well researched and heavily repeated to help you remember.
this wasn't what I expected. not my speed, buy not bad either.

Historia
Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.

This was great. The lecturer was clear in his speech and the subject was surprisingly entertaining. Most of his jokes fell flat, but there were one or two where I had to pause the recording so that I could finish laughing.

Three Fantastic Lecturers, + one iffy one.
- De Christopher en 12-03-15
this is worth listening to
Revisado: 04-07-16
I thought that there would be more on the lesser known (to me) myths of Europe, but that was not the case. the depth of coverage for the African and Native American myths was a welcome surprise.
I was pleasantly surprised by the breadth of the myths covered and the knowledge of the speakers. listening to the second speaker was rather jarring for me as his style of speech was markedly different from the first, and the third speaker seemed to enjoy trying to add twists to the stories,
overall well worth listening to and I would recommend to anyone interested in an intro to the various myths of the world
