This was a really interesting refreshment for me considering most of the World War 2 memoirs that I had listed to had been from the German side. Most of the time I tried to listen to Allied Memoir whether it be American or Soviet, it just seemed to drag on. This one did.

It was amazing to listen to the experiences of him and his unit that he went from from D-Day to VE Day. I loved learning about some of the stuff that you might never find out in a book about tanks such as in his unit, the lead tank would generally have a smoke shell loaded in the event that they were fired upon by a concealed tank, they could throw smoke in the in its face if it missed on the first shot.

Definite a recommend if you have a interest in World War 2 or tanks.

This was a good memoir but did have a few faults with it.

One of the biggest things is that in the background of the narrator at times, you can hear what sound like pages being turned very subtly.

Another thing I wish would have been included was the authors background. What was he doing before 1944? Why did he join the Waffen-SS? Why did he volunteer to fight for Germany? Those things are sadly never addressed.

Overall, it was a good book.

Jeff Shaara does what he does best in telling the story of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor.

Having read all his previous books that he has written, this one was as good if not better than his other novels he has written on American History.

This was a very good surprise of a listen. When I thought of World War 2 aerial. it was more of daylight combat. This certainly opened my eyes to night combat and the challenge that the night fighter pilots must have faced.

One of the things that I did not like is that the book used feets, yards and MPH instead of meters, kilometers or KMH which you would thing would have been used being a German pilot. Another thing I didn't like was that the memoir starts early in the war and ends in 1945. There was no information of his life before or after his war time service which was a bit disappointing.

One of my favorite parts of the books was when his plane got damaged and had to bail out. He deployed his parachute but was hanging in the trees. He didn't know how far down he was so he dropped his knife to hear a sound but didn't. Morning came and he realized that he was 3 feet off the ground which his fellow comrade had a good laugh about.

Overall, this was a great memoir.

This is a great book whether you are a Astros fan or one of the other 29 MLB clubs. It details the long process that it took Jeff Luhnow (the General Manager) and company to rebuild a struggling Astros club and win the World Series 5 years later.

This is a great book for MLB teams that are going through a rebuild who hopes don't look good. It shows the long process of rebuilding the Astros farm system that was ranked dead last in 2010 to being the best in 2014 by the draft or trading veterans for prospects.

When I got this audio book, I was expecting a memoir from a German-Canadian that had served as a gunner in a Panzer and talk about hit combat and his memories of it. What I got seemed more like historical research about German tanks than anything else.

I disliked when it went "In this chapter..." or talked about statics or using other books as references to talk about the Panzer IV or Jadpanzer. There seemed to very little information about his service and almost no talk about his fellow comrades that he must have been close to especially in a 5 man crew.

The narrator at times sounds like he inhales before talking which can get take you away and he seems to be talking a mile a minute which made it hard to comprehend or recall anything about this book.

I tried to listen through the entire thing twice but I could not find myself able to finish it.

This is a great memoir for anyone that has ever had a insert in submarines during World War 2 from either the German perspective or the American perspective. You have got to feel a bit of pity being depth charged by ships or planes and having to ride it out. Hans Goebeler doesn't hold back on his opinions on a few things such as how historians viewed the crew as having low morale in 1944 due to failed patrols or how he viewed Wilhelm Canaris as one of the biggest traitors in his opinion.

The narrators was good although it doesn't seem like he is fluent in German or at the least, pronunciation. A few things I didn't like was there a few times where it sounded like he just started recording by the volume seeming a tad low before being able to hear it. The narrator sounds like a older gentleman which I like because it sounds like a grandfather figure recounting his stories to those who want to hear.

I have listened to a few World War 2 memoirs on Audible and both of them were very different than this one. The previous memoirs that I have listened/read came off more like a book that game accounts from time to time on a day to day basis.

This memoir just summarizes his combat experience and life history. I also didn't like that anyone that was introduced, it would tell if they did die in combat or when they eventually passed away.

I couldn't finish this and had to return it.

This was an amazing memoir of someone who had voluntarily joined the Waffen-SS over originally being placed in a Flak unit. It details his life from being a young kid and seeing SA members marching in the streets to him being a captive in a allied POW camp which was difficult as well seeing by the end of the war, being in the SS could have meant death in the POW camps by your fellow Germans. I was definitely not disappointed with this at all.
