Very good book!

Honestly, this book wasn't anywhere on my radar. Im an avid fiction/fantasy reader but this author/book isn't normally what I lean towards. However, I seen it on the audible plus feature. I liked the synopsis and the title, an decided to give it a shot. It was free after all. Nothing to lose. Could not have been a better decision. Story is solid, with a practical, all be it not incredibly deep scientific aspect. Not that it needed to be more. A few moments of suspended belief but frankly this is a fiction so its to be expected. The proformance could possibly be one of the best narrations I've ever heard on an audio book. one of the more trivial but still notr worthy aspects is Mr. Hastings included his own inflections and verbal cues on his own. Short laugh, chuckle, disapproving sneer ect. It brought the dialog to another level. One criticism I could give was the fact that a British character in the book wasn't given an English accent. He may not be fluent in portraying, I'm unsure. If he isn't id understand the choice. Overall, an amazing performance by all involved. I would highly recommend this book!

A grand adventure in a less then grand future!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves post apocalyptic or dystopian future fiction. I really enjoyed the unique story line and the writers knack with words. It shines through the translation, so i can only imagine what it would be like in russian. I do have a few complaints but honestly their not very condemning towards the book as a whole. Other then the ending, which seemed rushed to me. However, again, its not condemning but is sad to a degree. If you enjoy this book, STOP READING THE SERIES! Trust me, dont do that to yourself. Keep this books as the shining light and forget the other ones!

A work of art

Such a good story. Brings me back to my youth. Reading huddled under blankets or at the dinner table. Being chided by my mother to stop reading while I ate. David Eddings packs a huge tale in small packages. A story on par with wheel of time or Tolkien. Yet, so deceptively simple. Well worth a read. Though, when you add Camerian to the mix as narrator, you have a timeless epic. He is a true master of narration. Truly paints a picture in your mind. 10/10

Loved the idea, Hated the result.

Initially, I absolutely loved the concept. The narrator is very talented, and It was a new take on one of my favorite genres. It wasnt all about the menial tasks of most post apocalyptic books. Was refreshing. until I got to book 1.0 .And then reality set in full swing. I'd classify this series more as mental horror then anything else. It is the thoughts and feelings of mostly, the tragic aspects of the apocalypse. Though, not even that completely. Regardless, by book 1.5 I couldn't take it any more. It was the same thing regurgitated over and over. Books are supposed to have ups and downs, character development (so you care) and trials and tribulations. Not a constant slew of negativity that made the books not only a bore but a chore. I'm sad to say, the only book I've ever returned.

Top of its class fantasy!

I originally read this book when I was a child, around 10. Yet, to this day I still hold this series, and this author, to be one of the best Ive ever read, A stray thought lead me to this audio book, when seeking something else to listen to while I work/exercise. I am so glad that I did! At first the narrator struck me as a little off, but as the story progressed he really grew on me. Though, there are a few pronunciations that irk me slightly, its easily over looked. His voice repertoire isnt the most encompassing that ive heard but more then enough. I really appreciate his attention to inflection and intensity to the situation speeding up his narration when it merits. I found myself more then once stopping what I was doing to really give attention to the story, 10/10 for entertainment and nostalgia!

Another great story

Absolutely love this book and quickly the series. Mr. Meredith has a way of writing that makes even the more mundane parts of the books suspenseful. Not to mention the exciting points! Highly recommended. The narrator did a superb job. Only a few times did I get mixed up on the voices and he has an impressive variety.

Intense ride!

It was a thrilling, intense ride of a story. A solid zombie thriller, that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed the attempt at portraying realism in the plot, and most of the different paradigms he used. Overall I'd recommend the book. The narrator was decent though his inflections at the end of most of his sentences can be distracting at times. I got used to it over time however.

First off round of applause to Ray Porter! THE best narrator I've ever had the pleasure of plugging into my ear holes. That being said he had some great material to work with. Wasnt a dull moment to be had the whole time. well written and intense. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved this series. The author took great care in developing the main characters and allowing them to grow in my minds eye. If your into action thrillers with a twist, this if for you!
