Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Sad, but essential reading about youth
Revisado: 01-09-18
Human exploitation is always tragic. Exploitation of young females is even more deplorable. In the new world of free, ubiquitous porn, most kids have seen some by the time they are 10 years old. While a shocking and disturbing story, understanding it is important for parents and educators everywhere.

Paul Bäumer is just 19 years old when he and his classmates enlist. They are Germany’s Iron Youth who enter the war with high ideals and leave it disillusioned or dead. As Paul struggles with the realities of the man he has become, and the world to which he must return, he is led like a ghost of his former self into the war’s final hours. All Quiet is one of the greatest war novels of all time, an eloquent expression of the futility, hopelessness and irreparable losses of war.

Mandatory Reading for the good of humanity
Revisado: 12-14-17
Exceptional writing and impressively narrated, this tragic story should be read by leadership everywhere. While the horrors of war and tragedies of our boys dying in them is sobering enough, the struggles of clinging to life and hope in the most desperate of times that these boys faced should remind us all of the fragile and pathetically absurd coexistence humans have on this little blue planet.

Historia
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1974 and the culmination of a life's work, The Denial of Death is Ernest Becker's brilliant and impassioned answer to the "why" of human existence. In bold contrast to the predominant Freudian school of thought, Becker tackles the problem of the vital lie: man's refusal to acknowledge his own mortality. In doing so, he sheds new light on the nature of humanity and issues a call to life and its living that still resonates more than 30 years after its writing.

A fascinating secular perspective...
Revisado: 02-26-17
... deliberating the most difficult of questions about our humanly existence. thought provoking, insightful, and entertaining throughout. a very lengthy read that occasionally belabours previously covered arguments, and sometimes camouflages content with references, the deep psychology and psychoanalysis may bear (for me at least) a second or third read. as an audio book listened to while traveling, inherent with expected missed material for 15-30 seconds here and there when traffic required attention, the flow and presentation of the material wasn't significantly compromised. enjoy!

Revisado: 11-14-16
I am not qualified to comment on the complexities of sociology, nor am I learned enough to understand the entanglements of copyright law, but I can say that this is a story of tragedy, greed, love, passion, and politics.
Interesting segments of information management and Internet history color the tale of a brilliant mind subsumed by a society unable and incapable of accepting his positions however obvious they were.
The book is a must read for sociologists, librarians, industrialists, scientists and talented youth aspiring to make the ultimate difference ... and possibly save humanity from its clear course of repeating history yet again.
