Historia
The father of three sons, a journalist, and a Brookings Institution scholar, Richard V. Reeves has spent twenty-five years worrying about boys both at home and work. His new book, Of Boys and Men, tackles the complex and urgent crisis of boyhood and manhood. Reeves looks at the structural challenges that face boys and men and offers fresh and innovative solutions that turn the page on the corrosive narrative that plagues this issue. Of Boys and Men argues that helping the other half of society does not mean giving up on the ideal of gender equality.

An excellent, non-partisan, well-researched book about an important topic
Revisado: 05-30-24
It's one of the most important books I've read in the past few years. It helped me to make sense of much of the loneliness, angst, and trouble I'm feeling about being a man in today's world and what men younger than me must face each day.

Historia
Work defines who we are. It determines our status and dictates how, where, and with whom we spend most of our time. It mediates our self-worth and molds our values. But are we hardwired to work as hard as we do? Did our Stone Age ancestors also live to work and work to live? And what might a world where work plays a far less important role look like? To answer these questions, James Suzman charts a grand history of "work" from the origins of life on Earth to our ever more automated present, challenging some of our deepest assumptions about who we are.

I enjoyed "Work." It's well-researched, interesting, and easy to follow. You'll enjoy this book if you're interested in economics, history, and how work has evolved since antiquity.

I first heard of the author after his website popped up when I was searching for a new credit card. The information on his website was so detailed and helpful that I used his affiliate link to get approved for three American Express credit cards.
I wish I had had a book like this when I joined the Army 15 years ago. I'd definitely be better off than I am now! Everything in this book is right on the money, pun intended. Follow his advice and your future self will thank you.

Historia
The riveting true story of the crime, punishment, and transformation of a Seattle boy who came of age inside the adult prison system and who, once on the outside, rebuilt a new life as a man. After twenty years of incarceration, little was familiar to newly released Willard Jimerson. His once-gritty city was a technology hub. An African American was president. And with a six-inch screen, he could access a vastly changed world. From Claudia Rowe comes the story of the life Willard took and the life taken from Willard, the story of everything he had to regain and was yet to discover.

Historia
Harvard Business School professor Mihir Desai, in his last lecture to the graduating Harvard MBA class of 2015, took up the cause of restoring humanity to finance. With incisive wit and irony, his lecture drew upon a rich knowledge of literature, film, history, and philosophy to explain the inner workings of finance in a manner that has never been seen before. This book captures Desai's lucid exploration of the ideas of finance as seen through the unusual prism of the humanities.

This is probably the best finance book I’ve ever read. I’ve never witnessed anyone explain the intersection of finance and humanity as well as the author. There are so many lessons contained in this book. It’s definitely worth the listen.

Historia
Fumio Sasaki changed his life when he became a minimalist. But before minimalism could really stick, he had to make it a habit. All of us live our lives based on the habits we’ve formed, from when we get up in the morning to what we eat and drink to how likely we are to actually make it to the gym. In Hello, Habits, Sasaki explains how we can acquire the new habits that we want - and get rid of the ones that don’t do us any good.
