I loved everything about this audiobook. The reader was great, giving a unique voice to each character, the fantasy western world was immensely cool, and the descriptive writing about one’s struggle with identity was poetic. Looking forward to reading more in this world! Be prepared to be introduced to many different creatures in quick succession, and to fall in love with the main character. She/he/they is a hero.

The narrator did a nice job and it was a pretty decent look at the time period...but the characters and plot lines were rather predictable.

There is some fantastic writing here and the narration is stellar...but this book goes on. And on. And on. It starts off super creepy and works early on as a horror, but around midway it feels like it devolves into some form of religious time. I can appreciate the exploration of religious themes, but after revealing the religious “twist,” it could have ended WAY sooner. Still, a good book.

I loved this book from the first page, and the narration was, overall, very pleasant. The only complaint I have is the way the narrator read, “Ursa said,” “she said,” “Jo said...” etc. she reads and pronounces the word “said” in almost exactly the same way. It sounds as if she was recorded saying it and they just copy pasted it throughout the entire book. The repetition can be extremely jarring and rip you out of the story.
