Supernatural creatures create chaos across an unforgiving Western landscape in the first book of a propulsive and cinematic fantasy adventure starring ever fearless Nettie Lonesome. Nettie Lonesome dreams of a greater life than toiling as a slave in the sandy desert. But when a stranger attacks her, Nettie wins more than the fight. Now she's got friends, a good horse, and a better gun. But if she can't kill the thing haunting her nightmares and stealing children across the prairie, she'll lose it all - and never find out what happened to her real family.

Amazing!!
Revisado: 07-28-20
I loved everything about this audiobook. The reader was great, giving a unique voice to each character, the fantasy western world was immensely cool, and the descriptive writing about one’s struggle with identity was poetic. Looking forward to reading more in this world! Be prepared to be introduced to many different creatures in quick succession, and to fall in love with the main character. She/he/they is a hero.

Good view of life in London in the 1600s
Revisado: 05-31-20
The narrator did a nice job and it was a pretty decent look at the time period...but the characters and plot lines were rather predictable.

Historia
Kate Reese is a single mother fleeing an abusive relationship by starting over in a new town, with her young son, Christopher. But Mill Grove, Pennsylvania, is not the safe place they thought it would be.... Their world begins to unravel after Christopher vanishes into the Mission Street Woods - where 50 years earlier an eerily similar disappearance occurred. When he emerges six days later, unharmed but not unchanged, he brings with him a secret: a voice only he can hear and a warning of tragedy to come.

Could have been shorter
Revisado: 05-24-20
There is some fantastic writing here and the narration is stellar...but this book goes on. And on. And on. It starts off super creepy and works early on as a horror, but around midway it feels like it devolves into some form of religious time. I can appreciate the exploration of religious themes, but after revealing the religious “twist,” it could have ended WAY sooner. Still, a good book.

Almost perfect
Revisado: 04-12-20
I loved this book from the first page, and the narration was, overall, very pleasant. The only complaint I have is the way the narrator read, “Ursa said,” “she said,” “Jo said...” etc. she reads and pronounces the word “said” in almost exactly the same way. It sounds as if she was recorded saying it and they just copy pasted it throughout the entire book. The repetition can be extremely jarring and rip you out of the story.
