Historia
Rooted in the past, but right for today, the NRSV continues the tradition of William Tyndale, the King James Version, the American Standard Version, and the Revised Standard Version. Equally important, it sets a new standard for the 21st century. The NRSV stands out among the many translations because it is "as literal as possible" in adhering to the ancient texts and only "as free as necessary" to make the meaning clear in graceful, understandable English.

Books of the Bible not noted!!!
Revisado: 01-26-18
The reader was fine, the word of God true to the text, but if you planning on usi g it in any practical way, think again. "Chapters" 1-6 are Matthew. you will have to listen to find out out where the books start and end. It doesn't help that you can't search.

Life is a little crazy for Sam right now. At one of her break-in properties, a dying woman insists that she take a small wooden box. Sam doesn't realize that the old woman was known locally as a 'bruja,' a witch, until she begins to feel some strange effects from the box.

I really enjoyed reading about someone a little older, a little less perfect but still living life aggressively! I got a kick out of her jobs and appreciated how hard Sam had to work. thanks for the realistic fiction!

Historia
The antebellum era and the close of the 19th century frame a period of great agricultural expansion. During this time, farmhouse plans designed by rural men and women regularly appeared in the flourishing Northern farm journals. This book analyzes these vital indicators of the work patterns, social interactions, and cultural values of the farm families of the time. Examining several hundred owner-designed plans, McMurry shows the ingenious ways in which "progressive" rural Americans designed farmhouses in keeping with their visions of a dynamic, reformed rural culture.

Interesting Look at the Evolution of Housing

Great for a text book.
Revisado: 10-27-15
If you could sum up Families and Farmhouses in Nineteenth-Century Amerca: Vernacular Design and Social Change in three words, what would they be?
Clinical. Textbook. Verbose.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
This could have been made more enjoyable if the author tried less hard to impress with her extensive vocabulary and tried harder to bring all that history and social influence to a level a mere interested party could enjoy. To be fair, I suppose that many of the people who will be reading it will be students of architecture. That being the case, perhaps the extensive architectural vernacular would be justified.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The reading was staccato to mimic the grad school length words, but it made it hard to listen to.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The farmhouse: a reason for being.
Any additional comments?
I have listened to it 3 or 4 times now, trying to absorb the material. The facts are so densely presented that it has been a challenge to master.

Historia
This true modern masterpiece is built around the two fateful words that make up the title and herald the end - “Alas, Babylon.” When a nuclear holocaust ravages the United States, a thousand years of civilization are stripped away overnight, and tens of millions of people are killed instantly. But for one small town in Florida, miraculously spared, the struggle is just beginning, as men and women of all backgrounds join together to confront the darkness....

The Original "end of world" book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have recommended this to a number of people. The story is wonderful, but unlike some books of this genre, it leaves you with hope. The narrator has the perfect voice for this book, and delivers the narrative with sensitivity and feeling.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I don't have a favorite character. I loved Florence for her old fashioned moral convictions, and Randy for his ability to live in what ever world presents itself. I loved the other characters also, maybe because I have read the book so often, they feel like old friends!
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was probably Randy running through the grocery store at breakneck speed, filling his basket with everything he thought would be needed for a long period of time. The description of that is great.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but it is too long. I listened to it several times, and some scenes more than once.
Any additional comments?
This is a book I'll probably not ever delete. I have the paperback, I have the kindle and now the audio version. One of my all time favorites.
