Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Good Fantasy Dragon story
Revisado: 09-06-23
A solid 4 stars.
Ok, I read this book because my wife wanted me to check it out with her. First off, it was a pretty good Dragon rider fantasy story with a romance novel mixed in. I could absolutely have done without the descriptive sexual romance angle in the book, but it wasn't really abruptive or detrimental to the story aside from a few parts. Mainly in one or two chapters.
Sort of Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones vibes but with dragons more like the Eragon Inheritance series. The story itself is good enough that I'll be back to listen to the second book. I wouldn't say this explored new territory for a fantasy series, but it wasn't completely predictable either. If you're a fan of dragons and fantasy, you'll likely enjoy this book. There are a couple of decent twists that keep it interesting, but if you're paying attention, you may be able to guess where it's headed with at least some of it.
The main narrator wasn't horrible once I got used to her, and she did make sense for the main character absolutely. Came across as whiny initially, and I almost didn't even want to finish the first chapter, but I did and am glad because she fit well in the end.
SPOILER beleow...sort of!!!
I did not like the change to the second narrator at all. I would've preferred it to have been throughout or not at all. That's all I'll say to keep this as spoiler free as possible.

Witcher and Sherlock Holmes with an Asian backdrop
Revisado: 03-04-22
Well written and interesting story of a Demon hunter in ancient Asia. Primarily mystery solving over sword play but interesting and entertaining.
