Historia
When twenty-two-year-old Jennifer Worth, from a comfortable middle-class upbringing, went to work as a midwife in the direst section of postwar London, she not only delivered hundreds of babies and touched many lives, she also became the neighborhood';s most vivid chronicler. Woven into the ongoing tales of her life in the East End are the true stories of the people Worth met who grew up in the dreaded workhouse, a Dickensian institution that limped on into the middle of the twentieth century.

This book was eye opening
Revisado: 01-15-24
i can't tell you how lucky and blessed we are nowadays. in my opinion, it is important to hear these stories and remember what life used to be like for the poor. now we have so many programs for food and housing. kids don't go to bed hungry and cold. we have access to medical care. as i sit and look at my 5 kids i am so glad i don't have to put them to bed hungry at night. we need to keep this past alive so that we don't forget and slip back into the cruelty and harsh brutality.

Historia
At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Historia
When a parent singles out a child for special privileges and attention, that child is often unaware that the relationship is unhealthy - even incestuous. As adults, these children struggle to feel validated, because while they have not been directly abused, they feel a sense of violation and crossed boundaries - usually done in the name of 'love' and 'caring'. The parent's love feels more confining than freeing, more demanding than giving, more intrusive than nurturing. Yet these children suffer from what psychologist Kenneth Adams calls The Silent Seduction.

I first read Mother Hunger by Kelly McDaniel and learned about enmeshment. I found this author on a podcast about enmeshment and this book has the possibility to turn someone's life around!! every "mommy's boy" should read this for sure. good for daughters, too.

Historia
God did not curse Eve or limit women in any way. Sadly, modern translations of Genesis 3:16 make it look like God did both. God didn't curse Adam either, but God did speak to him in a way exactly parallel to the other rebel in the Garden of Eden, the serpent-tempter. And two curses were imposed by God because of them.

An amazing revolutionary information
Revisado: 10-28-22
If you're struggling with your inner worth as a woman, listen to this book. all the messages we receive in church about women and our "curse" to have painful childbirth is not of God. God is a kind and loving father.

Historia
An insatiable need for sex and love. Periods of overeating or starving. A pattern of unstable and painful relationships. Does this sound painfully familiar? Trauma counselor Kelly McDaniel has seen these traits over and over in clients who feel trapped in cycles of harmful behaviors - and are unable to stop. Many of us find ourselves stuck in unhealthy habits simply because we don't see a better way. With Mother Hunger, McDaniel helps women break the cycle of destructive behavior by taking a fresh look at childhood trauma and its lasting impact.

Revolutionary Info to start the healing journey
Revisado: 10-27-22
With 3rd degree mother hunger, I've faced many or the consequences the author outlines. My own mother is still living, but we have been no contact now for right at a year. I have 5 young children of my own, and sometimes the immense burden of my own mother hunger weighs me down. I DESPERATELY don't want to continue this cycle. I think I've had so many kids to try to fill the void and I do everything from homebirth, breastfeeding, baby wearing, bedsharing, attachment parenting, and homeschooling. attaching with my kids and loving them has been both therapeutic and at times triggering. I'm doing everything I can to heal and let them not have this issue. I'm beyond grateful to have an amazing spouse. he is truly a partner. thanks so much for this book! I recommended it to my therapist and she is also reading it.

Revisado: 06-05-22
I read this when I was expecting my 2nd baby and now I'm expecting my 5th! my oldest is 8 so all my kids are young. they truly love each other and are so caring. they rarely ever really fight and even more rarely hurt each other on purpose. I just read it a second time and was honestly shocked at some of the stories because I can't imagine my kids being so cruel to one another. I'm so thankful for this book and the How to Talk book! it's given me so many useful tools. everyone should read this when expecting their second child.
