Historia
Slamming the door on the hellscape of 1980s Belfast, Detective Inspector Sean Duffy hopes that the 1990s are going to be better for him and the people of Northern Ireland. As a Catholic cop in the mainly Protestant RUC he still has a target on his back, and with a steady girlfriend and a child the stakes couldn’t be higher. After handling a mercurial triple agent and surviving the riots and bombings and assassination attempts, all Duffy wants to do now is live. But in his final days in charge of Carrickfergus CID, a missing persons report captures his attention.

The worst in the Duffy series
Revisado: 08-24-24
Slow and disorganized, it’s got nothing to do with the title details posted on Audible. It starts out with s missing girl early in Duffy’s career that never comes up again. The Thursday meeting of his agent is pushed over the entire story, even though the other timeline is using up nearly two weeks.

Historia
When Dr Nell Ward stumbles across a woman's body amongst the purple heather on Furze Heath, she was on the lookout for nests of poisonous adders. But something is lurking out here far more dangerous than vipers. A cold-blooded killer is on the loose and this is not his first victim. As DI James Clark begins to investigate, a pattern emerges pointing towards this being the work of a serial killer. Every victim shares the same physical characteristics - all of which are a match to Nell herself.

Worst of the series so far
Revisado: 04-02-24
This rating odds not due to the snakes, but to the apparent belief without evidence that criminality is inheritable (down to the characteristics of the victims, apparently) and that harsher sentences not only deter but also prevent crimes.

Historia
2045, the Arctic Circle. A crew of six aboard the research vessel, The Nox, embark upon a voyage through the melting ice and Arctic dark in search of the last of the polar bears. The mission represents a ray of hope in a world ravaged by climate change, but it quickly becomes clear that some on board are in search of more than bears. Isolation and the disorientation of 24/7 darkness soon have the group losing their grip on reality – accidents, nightmares, or hauntings – no one can be sure, but the voyage seems cursed.

Revisado: 01-06-24
The recording is poorly done as it is like they forgot this is an audiobook, we don’t see. It is indeed as if you had the tv running, but only heard the sound from another room.
Story is weak and typical for anti-science, let’s do nothing pop culture.

Historia
In the autumn of 1707, old enemies from the Scottish Highlands to the Borderlands are finding common ground as they join to protest the new Union with England. An invasion is imminent as many plot to bring the exiled young Jacobite king back to Scotland to reclaim his throne, and in Edinburgh, the streets are filled with discontent and danger. Queen Anne, seeking to calm the situation, has sent money up from London for Scots who took part eight years earlier in the ill-fated Darien expedition that left Scotland all but bankrupt.

Historia
From the author of The Remains of the Day, here is a novel that is at once a gripping psychological mystery, a wicked satire of the cult of art, and a poignant character study of a man whose public life has accelerated beyond his control. The setting is a nameless Central European city where Ryder, a renowned pianist, has come to give the most important performance of his life. Instead, he finds himself diverted on a series of cryptic and infuriating errands that nevertheless provide him with vital clues to his own past.

Great narration for an embarrassing profile of a post-modern human
Revisado: 08-24-23
Narration was great. The story was pitiful for humanity in its portrayal of an excessively faux self-conscious protagonist, who lacks true introspection and blames his faults and their consequences on another to finally walk away proud of himself despite utter failure.

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-13-23
Two good elements: the opposing timelines and the anonymity towards the guests that allows the victim to stay unrevealed for as long as possible.
But that's it. There is no resemblance to Agatha Christie, who would never rely on the nowadays all too common (seemingly) and flat (logically and literally) climax consisting of an overkill of violence: just one more murder (however unnecessary and illogical), declare the perpetrator a psychopath (what a surprise!) and layering on a drug smuggling ring.
