This overlong epic had many interesting insights into India, its people and culture and the effect of British rule on the culture. Unfortunately it got bogged down in medical elements that took away from the basic story line; which became trite and predictable. Sort of a James Mitchner wannabe. So disappointed as I loved Cutting For Stone and hoped this would be as good.

I have loved all previous books in the Strike series, but this one seemed disjointed, overly complicated and with too many characters with strange, hard to remember names. Too much "texting" dialogues that became tedious. I hope Galbraith will get back on track in her next book.

I did not like this book, I kept reading so I could discuss it with my Book Club. It was disjointed, crass, confusing and repulsive with an ending that was supposed to make us feel something, but I'm not sure what. I do not recommend this book.

It took a bit to get into the story of this one. Rather than being able to sit down and enjoy where the story would take me, I felt manipulated and led in confusing, uninteresting episodes of uninteresting and unimportant characters. I even found myself disliking Claire as a she became rather insipid and boring. I look forward to Book 10 in the hope it is back on track, but this one disappointed.

Gosh, golly gee. if you enjoy the Hallmark Chanel you will probably like this book. The sing-song upspeak of the reader only accentuated the simplistic language and plot. This book can be placed on the same shelf as Nancy Drew.

Not the typical Grisham book, but truly a well written, excellent story with lots of emotional ups and downs. I highly recommend the audio version as this was perhaps the best I've ever listened to.
