Historia
Middle school is hard. Solving cases for the FBI is even harder. Doing both at the same time - well, that's just crazy. But that doesn't stop Florian Bates! Get to know the only kid on the FBI director's speed dial - and several international criminals' most wanted lists - in this adventurous series that School Library Journal says combines "elements of Alex Rider, James Bond, and Sherlock Holmes".

The reader’s voice was weird. I think he was trying to sound like a child but he didn’t.

Plot Flow and Interesting Story and Characters
Revisado: 01-14-25
This is a middle school or YA book but it treats the reader as if he/she has a brain. It weaves in history seamlessly. The characters are believable but maybe a bit too clever. That does not detract from the story which is always plausible and comes to a logical conclusion. Exciting but not always plot driven.

Historia
The meeting place was carefully chosen: an abandoned church in rural Ireland just after dark. For Jonathan Quinn--a freelance operative and professional "cleaner" - the job was only to observe. If his cleanup skills were needed, it would mean things had gone horribly wrong. But an assassin hidden in a tree assured just that. And suddenly Quinn had four dead bodies to dispose of and one astounding clue - to a mystery that is about to spin wildly out of control.

The character is real, not a superhero. He has a real life as well as his job.

The main character. It is action packed and the plot moves but the characters are real

Good Author. Wrong story.
Revisado: 05-23-24
Good story but a little thin. The Nast books are more interesting as they weave in history and have more compelling plots. This book’s premise about Stalin was a bit contrived.

Fourth in Series Featuring Jayne Robinson
Revisado: 04-08-24
I rarely read books written by men that star strong women but Turpin continues to do this. The plot is intriguing but there is not much character analysis. This does not impact the enjoyment of the book as one learns about world events. Not literature but not meant to be. Overall it is engaging and enveloping.

Historia
It’s been a minute—or five years—since Jordan Vargas last saw his college friends, and twenty-eight years since their graduation from Berkeley when their adult lives officially began. Now Jordan, Jordy, Naomi, Craig, and Marielle find themselves at the brink of a new decade, with all the responsibilities of adulthood, yet no closer to having their lives figured out. Though not for a lack of trying. Over the years they’ve reunited in Big Sur to honor a decades-old pact to throw each other living “funerals,” celebrations to remind themselves that life is worth living.

Fluff Until the End
Revisado: 11-24-23
This book was formulaic and very disappointing. The middle two-thirds was fluff, not adding to the story. In the last 30-45 minutes the “plot” was revealed and came out of nowhere. The end was designed to be a big surprise and it was but it had nothing to do with the story. This is the first review I’ve ever written after listening to over 250 books. I’m writing it to warn readers of its lack of substance. I understand it was not meant to be a classic but it is subpar even by ‘psychological thriller’ standards. I’m sorry I didn’t quit this book about half way through.

Disappointing End
Revisado: 05-14-23
This book was wonderful and really portrayed Emma and her troubles very believably. However the end was out of the blue and took 5 minutes to explain and then a sappy happy ending. I was disappointed because I had read other really good books by this author.
