Historia
Thirty-five years old, fresh off the bus from New York City, and nursing a shattered heart, Anna Pigeon takes a decidedly unglamorous job as a seasonal employee of the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area. On her day off, she goes hiking into the park never to return. Her co-workers think she’s simply moved on - her cabin is cleaned out and her things gone. Anna herself wakes up, trapped at the bottom of a dry natural well, naked, without supplies and no clear memory of how she got into this situation. As she slowly pieces together her memory, it soon becomes clear that someone has trapped her there....

A slightly different Barr
Revisado: 02-15-13
Would you listen to The Rope again? Why?
Possibly. I may have missed a few important moments and would enjoy it again in the future. I seldom listen to a book twice.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Anna of course but Jenny is admirable and has depth.
Have you listened to any of Joyce Bean’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first listening experience with Ms. Bean. Her performance was first rate.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No laughing. I didn't cry but the circumstances certainly kept my attention.
Any additional comments?
I've thoroughly enjoyed all of Nevada Barr's books. They're real to me, well thought out and quite educational to boot. I'm never bored when I'm reading her novels.

Historia
Bonnie and Clyde, they thought. And what's-his-name, the sidekick. Three teenagers with dead-end lives, and chips on their shoulders, and guns. The first person they killed was a highway patrolman. The second was a woman during a robbery. Then, hell, why not keep on going? As their crime spree cuts a swath through rural Minnesota, some of it captured on the killers' cell phones and sent to a local television station, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator Virgil Flowers joins the growing army of cops trying to run them down.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 02-15-13
Would you try another book from John Sandford and/or Eric Conger?
Absolutely. I've read a number of John Sandford's book and usually enjoy them. The quirkiness and odd humorous comments and behavior of his protagonists keep the stories alive.
Would you recommend Mad River to your friends? Why or why not?
Probably not. It wasn't up to Mr. Sandford's standards in my opinion. Could be I just wasn't in the mood for this particular theme.
Which scene was your favorite?
Don't think I had a favorite. I really like the Virgil Flowers character but...
Do you think Mad River needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. The ending pretty much tied up all the strings.
Any additional comments?
Nope.

Historia
Written at the request of Charles Dickens, North and South is a book about rebellion that poses fundamental questions about the nature of social authority and obedience. Gaskell expertly blends individual feeling with social concern and her heroine, Margaret Hale, is one of the most original creations of Victorian literature. When Margaret Hale's father leaves the Church in a crisis of conscience she is forced to leave her comfortable home in the tranquil countryside of Hampshire....

Listened, read, watched--many times
Revisado: 12-21-11
Where does North and South rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Number 1. This was the ultimate read for me in the last year or so. Absolutely adore this book--audible, text and BBC production. Everythibg about it is enjoyable. I've recommend it to all the readers I know, It's probably not for everyone, but I will read it and listen to it over and over. Already have.
What was one of the most memorable moments of North and South?
There were so many. Every chapter was memorable.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Most obviously, I think, was when Thornton proposed and was rejected.
Any additional comments?
It's just a great listen.

Historia
The "maddog" murderer who is terrorizing the Twin Cities is two things: insane and extremely intelligent. He kills for the pleasure of it and thoroughly enjoys placing elaborate obstacles to keep police befuddled. Each clever move he makes is another point of pride. But when the brilliant Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, a dedicated cop and a serial killer's worst nightmare, is brought in to take up the investigation, the maddog suddenly has an adversary worthy of his genius.

Love the Quirky Remarks
Revisado: 12-21-11
Where does Rules of Prey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks near the top of mystery/detective for me. I like Sandford's style. He makes Lucas seem real, not a perfect being, and likeable despite some of his actions. I will do more Sandford...this is my first read of his work.
What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Inflection, personality to the characters, humor.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Sorry. I can't come up with one.
