Beautiful and Haunting Fairytale

My favorite book!
Revisado: 04-02-18
I bought this audio book because, I saw the cover and was drawn in. Pretty wine bottles and book covers always get me. While listening to the first few chapters I know I thought to myself several times “What the hell, this is crazy!” but by the end of the book I was crying and breathless. It spans 4 generations of a family that is familiar with oddities. It’s horror, it’s mystery, it’s violent and then it is beautiful. It’s so beautifully written that I stopped several times and wrote down some of the lines because I wanted to remember them. The narrator did a FANTASTIC job. There are so many different characters and accents in this story and I was never lost. I want to listen to it again. I highly recommend!

Review of Trilogy
Revisado: 03-14-18
I wanted to love this. I really did. I’ve never read anything by this author before, and I was hoping that I had found my next obsession. Unfortunately this isn’t it. I found the books to be annoyingly repetitive. It was like she was shoving how green Ren’s eyes were right down our throats. Half the time I wanted to strangle Ivy and the rest of the time I thought she was just an idiot. Maybe it was a bad thing to listen to them back to back? Maybe if I had had a break in between it wouldn’t have been as bad? I did appreciate the twists in the story and, like most everyone else I loved Tink. I think the story had a lot of potential, but it just didn’t play out well. I was very disappointed.

Alice's only lead is the message her mother left behind: "Stay away from the Hazel Wood."

The Hazel Wood
Revisado: 02-07-18
This was definitely different than anything I have read lately. I just finished it and am trying to decide whether or not there is a series here or if this will be a one off. The author has certainly left it open, but not in a cliffhanger sort of style.
I rated this as a 4, because I felt the story dragged a bit here and there but especially at the end. Not annoyingly so, but still. I certainly didn’t see the plot twist coming and liked being surprised. I can usually figure a book out pretty quickly. I am happy I chose it and would recommend it to others.
I also understand why some people are having an issue with the narrator. She has a wonderful voice but it does seem at times that this is her first reading of the book. I did also notice that she tends to read it a bit like a poem in parts, but that seems more like the story than her telling of it. None of this bothered me enough to stop listening and her voice was nice to listen to.
All in all, if you are lookin for something different, you should give this a listen.

Loved it!
Revisado: 01-23-18
This title has been popping up in my “Recommended for you” section and I keep passing it by. I am so happy I decided to give it a try. The performance of the Narrators was wonderful. Laura, Sunshine, Bomber and Eunice all played so well. The story is wonderful and kept my attention, which was a good thing because the writers details were well spun! I laughed, I cried both happy and sad tears and I was so sad that it was over. If you are on the fence about listening, I urge you to give this a go! You won’t be disappointed!

Weird at first, but then...relatable
Revisado: 01-06-18
This wasn’t really what I was expecting from the reviews I read before purchasing. I admit that it took me a while to really understand why anyone would review this book as amazing, fantastic or life changing. But I am glad I stuck with it. Eleanor and Raymond and everything that happens along the way is a different kind of coming into your own story. Introverts (like myself) will relate to the main characters personality for sure. By the middle of the book I was cheering for her and hoping she found her way. I cringed, I laughed and I cried.
Cathleen McCarrons performance was really good. Creepy at first until you get a grasp of the characters. But once you do you can appreciate how she tells their tale.
Overall- weird book at first. But stick with it. Eleanor will win you over in the end.

Wait! It Mightn't Be What You Think--

I️ really enjoyed it
Revisado: 11-06-17
It seems odd to say that I️ “enjoyed” this book, considering what it’s about. I️ think the chosen Narrator was excellent! She did a fantastic job and really drew me in. I never felt that the story lagged, though I️ do wish there was more background on what happened to start the new world. This was one that made me want to stay in the car and listen well past making my destination. I️ highly recommend.
