First time reading a book by this author, and thoroughly enjoyed the intrigue, suspense and mystery of this story. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

surprisingly delightful

Narrated by: Carrie Coello 3.5-4 stars - did a nice job of distinguishing the characters, without going over the top with the 'Jersey girl' attitude/accent.

A, not quite, cozy mystery. Quirky 'Jersey shore' characters, with attitude and sass, surviving in a new paranormal world order.
While this does use some rough/crass language it's not over the top and it suites the characters portrayed. The heroine has a crusty exterior to hide her soft, gooey, and slightly emotionally bruised, heart.

Lady Olivia had us all fooled...

A complete surprise. Wasn't sure if I would like this one or not. Turns out Lady Olivia, the sister who played the air headed debutante is anything but. Espionage, insane scientists, air ships and the ever intriguing Mr. Black.
Ignoring the mispronunciation of a few words for the time period: laud-a-num is not pronounced law-don-um, narrator Henrietta Meire does an excellent job with the different voices and accents.

timeless...

keep in mind this was written in the early 80's; it deals with the emotional decisions of family and responsibility interwoven with a bit of suspense.
(thought the choice of narrator could have been better in my opinion)

The male narration make work for some...

but personally I was disappointed with the narration on this - the Anne Flosnik version is much better in my opinion.

Obviously not a stand alone. Audible doesn't list this as a sequence number but the long explanatory prelude and the first chapter beginning makes this story sound like a book that is somewhere in the middle of a series.
The description sounds like it would be a good story, Maybe I'll try the ebook since I could not get through the first chapter. The male narrator's voice is very nice, it is also very bland. There is very little distinction between his characterizations.

Not your typical alien/warrior capture novel. This is not a light and fluffy read, but a well developed narrative about relationships and understanding different cultures

another quick campy suspense...

I've become addicted to these 1980 - 1990 stories by Ms. Krentz
Not a fan of dual narrators, but in some audio books it really works well; this is not one. Overall I found the narration to be flat, with very little voice variation between characters.
Phila is a former social services worker with a case of burnout and paranoia after interceding in a bad placement situation. She is also dealing with her own foster sister's unexpected death, and the inheritance that the Castleton and Lightfoot families felt should have been left to them. Even though he has his own agenda Nick Lightfoot offers Phila the perfect opportunity to re-evaluate and decide what to do. Along the way the two of them discover the truth about some old family secrets and prevent Phila's death.

C.J. Critt does an excellent job - very versatile.

Long drawn out story about a woman afraid to chance a second romance with a man who rescued her from a broken down car; the man is a millionaire masquerading as a construction worker.
