Historia
Lydia Quixano Pérez lives in the Mexican city of Acapulco. She runs a bookstore. She has a son, Luca, the love of her life, and a wonderful husband who is a journalist. And while there are cracks beginning to show in Acapulco because of the drug cartels, her life is, by and large, fairly comfortable. When Lydia’s husband’s tell-all profile of Javier, the jefe of the newest drug cartel that has gruesomely taken over the city, is published, none of their lives will ever be the same.

Narrated perfectly, it gives a glimpse of the realities of life for many peoples. It has forever enhanced my appreciation for those trying to improve their life and escape the violence.

Wow! A little different story on WWII with events happening in Italy . I’m so glad that more of this story got revealed and wonder how many other war criminals were treated in this same manner

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

This was a really good book to listen to
Revisado: 10-05-18
We love historical novels. It is with pleasure we listen to the trials and tribulations of real families in crisis - and how they deal with the inner workings of the family. This was akin to the Sound of Gravel - another true story of family and religion and offbeat people in society.

Historia
When they met at an airport, it was love at first sight. But in time, everything collapsed. As an unnamed but unforgettable woman muses on her life—from meet cute to marriage and parenthood—her recollections inexorably build to a devastating truth. In this shattering performance, Carey Mulligan, star of the critically lauded drama An Education, captivates audiences with playwright Dennis Kelly’s harrowing ruminations on family, ambition, gender, and violence.

too hard to understand the fast talking Mulligan
Revisado: 09-28-18
It was too distracting to try and be able to figure out what was being said and to process in my brain the one sided conversations. With the accent and the accelerated soliloquy it was not a pleasurable experience. I tried to finish it - but just could not. Definitely not my style of "reading listening"

Historia
It's the 1960s and the world of advertising is coming alive - and it's an exciting world to be part of. Simon Wong, a Chinese-Australian and promising young advertising executive, is sent to Singapore to establish an office. He finds himself thrust into an environment that is at once strangely familiar and profoundly different; one where the rules that govern behaviour - both in business and in personal life - differ wildly from what he is used to. And where all is not what it appears to be.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Troy Brennan: Every Southie in Boston knows that name. The son of a dead mobster. The heartthrob with steel-blue eyes. "The Fixer" who can make or break you in this city. Oh, and my new husband. And killed every chance I had to run away from the place where we grew up.

Good narrator

Any additional comments?
Good listen - especially because of the narration. The Boston accent of one of the main characters really brought his character to life. A more modern day "mob like" activity is part of the story and the growth in character of one of those people.

One of the best books Ive listened to this year.
Revisado: 08-23-17
What did you love best about When the Moon Is Low?
This book brings to reality some of the trials that refugees face getting out Afghanistan and other similar countries to a place of safety. The primary characters of one family bring to light the plights of many of hundreds of thousands people. The narration was excellent and the characters were easy to distinguish from each other.
Any additional comments?
I totally get the ending. Each story of what happens to a family/person is different.
