Bad reading
Revisado: 07-14-24
If you are going to have a character with a British accent you need to find a British reader. The accent was so bad I couldn’t finish the book. Not to mention the super whiny nasally performance. Painful

Not note worthy but decently entertaining
Revisado: 06-21-23
Story was entering enough to keep me interested. Teenage Internal dialogue was repetitive and stale.
Author/ editor clearly didn’t research topics that were not familiar which makes the book hard to listen to at moments. (For example I’m a surfer and that aspect was super ridiculous)

Entertaining but mediocre
Revisado: 04-28-23
The author wove a great story. Mostly action with little space for character development. The self defacing inner monologue of the captain was tiring and made the main character less believable as she was also supposed to be a powerful leader. The reader was ok but made everything sound equally as intense regardless of whether someone was eating dinner or fighting battles which got old. Can’t decide if I want to know what happens enough to tolerate the shortcomings.

Great story
Revisado: 05-26-22
I was really impressed by this story. At first I felt there wasn’t enough character development for me to really care about the main character but that was woven into the story. It did just sort of end with no real wrap up. I know there is another book but this one couldn’t be a stand alone. I’m excited to read the next ones though. I love the imagery and think it would make an awesome movie!

Historia
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

Meh
Revisado: 04-01-22
The reader was good when he was doing Magnus’ voice and just reading but of the other voices where not good, everyone sounded sort of slow and dumb, not like Gods and demigods. I just couldn’t listen after a while, my daughter enjoyed the story. Honestly I thought it was sort of formulaic to Riordans other series. But it’s hard to tell if I would have liked it more if I had enjoyed the reading.

Welcome to the School for Good and Evil, where best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. With her glass slippers and devotion to good deeds, Sophie knows she'll earn top marks at the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks and wicked black cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil.

Tedious
Revisado: 05-07-21
The idea of this book was good and the ending, the very very end (not the events leading up to it) was good. But the rest Of the book was the same drama playing out over and over with different details. The plot line was week, just a chaotic series of youth drama events with predictable characters. The right mix of drama, suspense, and relief was missing. My 8 year old enjoyed it but she just likes being read to.

I love all things Cassandra Clare but this book didn’t ever grab me. I enjoyed the voices of Magnus and Alex but had a really hard time with Jem, Jace, and a few others.
