Historia
It was a whirlwind romance and we had the perfect relationship. He was my dream partner, loving, caring, attentive…until the day I married him and things became toxic. I spent my wedding night in A&E with an ‘unexplained’ broken wrist – but I knew what happened…. My romantic illusions shattered. My fear of the future heightened. The man I had fallen in love with wasn’t the man I married. And that was just the start of things to come. Quickly things escalated. He isolated me from family and friends, and with no one to turn to, he began to control every part of my life.

Ridiculous & repetitive
Revisado: 06-14-23
Where do I start…I think this may be one of the worst books I have ever listened to. By chapter 10 I didn't think I could go any further. How could this book have been written by an experienced author…and published?!
This is yet another book with a seemingly successful female character who marries this chap after 8months, then he changes, and she becomes a not-so successful female character. Its not even the obvious story, or even the fact she speaks to herself a lot (and not in an amusing way) 'Sophie you must do something' etc… but examples like….he locked her out of the room but she sleeps outside at the pool because she is too embarrassed to ask reception for a room key as she is in her pyjamas. Or later the police telling her she is safe now, then 2 sentences later, but he can come back and kill you. And SO many statements repeated so many times!
I did not think the narrator did a bad job at all (considering what she had to work with), however the high ratings on Amazon makes me think reading the book may be better. Frankly I don't know how. Without a doubt I will be returning this book.

A wonderful debut novel
Revisado: 06-11-23
I found the narrators voice a little lacklustre. And this book certainly needed more than 1 narrator! There are a few 'main' characters and I couldn't work out who was who, as they sort of blurred into one British accent (only other accent was Scottish). So it can be a but confusing, as also not in the same timeline. Not a 5 star by far, but an author to look out for in the future.

Kept me interested for almost 9hrs
Revisado: 06-10-23
Not many books can do that for me. So yes I really enjoyed it. Right from the start there is some interest, and throughout the book, just as I thought this is the pinnacle and the book will start ending...something else happens. It's not complicated so the listener doesn't have to remember too many characters or details, but it has a layer of intrigue throughout. Some might say its a little silly or unrealistic towards the end, which it is, but that doesn't bother me too much as overall its a good 4 star listen.

Would not recommend
Revisado: 04-01-23
As there is really no substance to 90% of this book. It is exactly what you would think when seeing the title and book cover. Because of the other positive reviews I continued to listen, but for me there was only about 90mins where the story became more interesting and of course that's near the end.

Historia
Becky’s life is almost perfect. Growing up, she could never have imagined living in such a safe, beautiful home, with a boyfriend as loving and kind as Alex, and hopes for a little family of her own. But then stand-offish Max moves in next door, and things begin to fall apart. First, someone starts trolling her social media. Then she finds her tyres slashed. By the time she discovers the dead bird, left waiting for her like a prize, she’s sure someone is after her. And having spied some strange goings-on beyond her kitchen window, she suspects that person is Max.

Started off so well...
Revisado: 10-16-22
...but when we find out what's going on, it's sooo disappointing. I cant say very much without giving away the storyline but the end really ruins the book for me. The narrators voice is very high pitched which also make the main female character come across as a bit pathetic.

Boring
Revisado: 07-29-22
The summary is much more exciting than the book actually is! Which is obviously disappointing. It starts off well and I really thought I was in for an adventure on this island (along with the other couples). And um…nothing really happens. Or it happened and I missed it. Followed by a few hours of relationship issues. And it’s the end. Very superficial and not worth the credit.

Historia
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter. But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house. A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.

Way too long!
Revisado: 04-17-22
5* for narration - 3* for the story - a 2* overall
Divide the book into 3 : enjoy the beginning - skip the middle, as you wont miss anything except too many many many words and the female character questioning herself over & over - then don't expect too much from the last 1/3. Suffice to say, I wont be purchasing the rest of the series.

Book probably better
Revisado: 02-18-22
Storyline is not bad at all, but ruined by the song-a-long voice of the narrator unfortunately. So I would not say the audiobook is "jaw-dropping or a thriller" but the book might be.

Revisado: 01-15-22
I can't begin to understand why anyone would rate this book highly. My honest review is 80% of the book is SO dull (woe is me, my wife doesn't love me, starts an affair) and only the last 20% is a bit more interesting. I don't even know how it was published?!
