Historia
When Santa Cruz County deputy sheriff Jose Reyes, Ali’s classmate from the Arizona Police Academy, is gunned down and left to die, he is at first assumed to be an innocent victim of the drug wars escalating across the border. But the crime scene investigation shows there’s much more to it than that, and soon he and his pregnant wife, Teresa, both fall under suspicion of wrongdoing. Ali owes Reyes a debt of gratitude for the help he gave her years earlier when she was dealing with a troubled friend. When she’s summoned to his bedside at Physicians Medical Center in Tucson, she can't turn away.

Karen Ziemba stresses me out
Revisado: 08-19-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Left for Dead to be better than the print version?
Karen reads this story so fast and aggressively she puts me on edge. I liked the story though
What did you like best about this story?
J. A. Jance's writing is top notch and the story was easy to follow (if not for the distraction of Karen's speed racing reading.
What didn’t you like about Karen Ziemba’s performance?
This book and the newest release Deadly Stakes were ruined for me by the pursed, very fast reading of Karen. It is like she is in a race with someone to read as fast as she can. One single, aggressive, on the edge of her seat tone of voice and speed reading ruined them for me and I sent the new release back. I tried three times to listen and found myself feeling stressed out and on the edge of my seat just because of her reading. Could not listen.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Let someone else read it

Historia
After working one of the worst mass killings in U.S. history, Scarpetta returns home to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Exhausted and ill, she's recovering at home when she receives an unsettling call. The body of a young woman has been discovered on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's rugby field. The victim, a graduate student named Gail Shipman, is oddly draped in ivory linen and posed in a way that is too deliberate to be the killer's first strike.

So tiresome and irritating
Revisado: 01-09-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Kate Reading's over-exaggerated pronunciation and morose, self-pitying tone in her voice make this almost unbearable. Not one single pleasant moment in the life of Kay Scarpetta. Even when it might be good news it is read to be morose and dark.
What was most disappointing about Patricia Cornwell’s story?
The fact that one can not track the story line due to the painful narration and way over the top descriptive diatribe about every single subject from a boiled egg to the paw prints left by her dog.
What didn’t you like about Kate Reading’s performance?
Everything. She is not reading the way she used to. She was my favorite but the past couple of books have been different and not in a pleasant way. She needs to stop with the clipped, painful pronunciation of every word and start talking like a human being again. How about some inflection in her voice instead of the black, mortician-like monotone.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dust?
Almost everything reflective or descriptive not associated with the actual crime itself.
Any additional comments?
Making a book 12 hours long is not a bargain if the story can be told in six. This book drones on and on about nothing and clearly shows Kay to see herself as a martyr. Not a good thing for this character. I do not see her as strong and able any longer. She appears to have no life, no love left in her, no tolerance, no humor and no dimension - just a flat, almost hateful egomaniac who feels that the world would collapse without her, her cure all Italian cooking and the devotion to her by her minion Pete Marino. Does no character in her books ever achieve any element of happiness or peace or have any normal feelings? It surprises me that any of them can even raise their heads off the pillow in the mornings. They all are written to be so darn depressed and depressing.

Historia
When McGee picks up the phone and hears a voice from the past, he can't help it. He has to meddle. Especially when he has the chance to reunite Sam Taggart, a reckless, restless man like himself, with the woman who's still waiting for him. But what begins as a simple matchmaking scheme soon becomes a bloody chase that takes McGee to Mexico, a beautiful country - and one from which he hopes to return alive.

Disappointed
Revisado: 05-22-12
Would you try another book from John D. MacDonald and/or Robert Petkoff?
Robert Petkoff for sure but not another of the Travis Mcgee series. Each one in the series tells the exact same story - just different colors. Very unrealistic. Too many "dahlings" and "Yes, Dear" comments made by too many weak, dumb, complaining and whining women who all fall into bed with the wonderful Travis McGee who is apparently the only man on the planet who see himself as the best gift in the world to women. Just not a very good listen.

Historia
In a New York City fifty years in the future, Detective Eve Dallas tracks down those who break the law - including the ones sworn to uphold it. Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a brutal, senseless crime - an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. And for the first time, Peabody is primary detective on the case, which means she has to get used to a new level of authority and responsibility. Good thing she learned the ropes from a master like Eve. But after rounding up the perps, Peabody stumbles upon a much trickier situation.

Absolute crap-total waste of $$
Revisado: 03-07-11
This is an exercise in tolerance NOT interest. I am 30 minutes into this and these characters are portrayed miserably by the narrator. Everyone sounds like a bullying, whining kindergartner. The main character Dallas and her partner are the most irritating. I am not sure what the story line is supposed to be because Dallas's partner has been made primary on the case and constantly reiterates that fact in a whining sing-song. "But I"m the primary and I do it for you when you're the primary so you should do it for me". All I know at this time is a convenience store has been robbed and Eve Dallas wears a huge diamond ring on a chain under her uniform. GET RID OF THIS NARRATOR!!!! AND FOR HEAVEN SAKE WHY 50 YEARS IN THE FUTURE??? A tube of coke. I assume since the officer offered it to an arrestee it is a reference to coca cola yet her partner felt the need in the middle of all this to announce she wanted a FIZZIE for heaven sake. A FIZZIE??? That was 50 years PAST not future. Terrible book and we just now went into chapter 2.
