The story just grew around me as I listened. I turned it off around midnight, but I had those headphones back on for breakfast! An excellent novel and a great reader.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

unexpected
Revisado: 10-08-21
honestly, I almost shut it off in the first couple chapters, but I somehow got hooked in. weird, I just had to accept this weird concept of this real-life game, and it just became like any other fantasy/sci-fi and book.
by the time I was done, I had already downloaded the next one. lots of fun.

Historia
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Many reviews by people who didn't read this book
Revisado: 03-15-21
It is OBVIOUS that a lot of reviewers got all worked up about this book and didn't read it. One guy even said it was about a presidential election which it WAS NOT. Not even a little bit.
"He made Antifa a hero!"
Antifa was literally mentioned twice in the book. Once by a biker with a nazi tattoo who accused Reacher of being an Antifa infiltrator because he didn't have a tattoo
"Russia Russia Russia! Disinformation"
So, the fact that the Russian Spies sent altered files to the FBI is somehow "Liberal Bias"?
Plot Give Away (Reacher fans probably don't care. We've all read these books multiple times)
The book is simple:
1. Reacher saves a guy from getting kidnapped.
2. Reacher finds out there are Nazis behind it, so he goes and kicks their butts.
3. Reacher discovers the Nazis are gullible idiots who have been manipulated by an old Russian spymaster, so he kicks his butt too.
4..Reacher Saves the girl.
5. Reacher walks off into the sunset
So, where in the world do all these reviews about "Liberal Bias" and "Child's has gone off on a liberal slant" and "Stolen Presidential Election" and "Russian Disinformation campaign is stupid low-hanging fruit"?
Someone, somewhere, on some chat group, read this book and was OFFENDED that Lee Childs wrote about American Nazis as gullible idiots who falsely believed they were saving America because a Russian lied to them. So they told all their friends to slam this book. And that, my fellow reacher friends, is disinformation.
Now, an actual review:
The book is not one of his best. It's fun and you can't be a fan of Reacher and not read it. I mean, it's Reacher beating the piss out of the bad guys. The reading is difficult. It's sometimes hard to tell one character from another during dialog, but I've listened to much worse, so I'd give it a 3 star review for performance. For storyline among other Reacher books, probably 3.5/ 5. He's done worse, but whatever.
