Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Historia
Fear of Physics is a lively, irreverent, and informative look at everything from the physics of boiling water to cutting-edge research at the observable limits of the universe. Rich with anecdotes and accessible examples, it nimbly ranges over the tools and thought behind the world of modern physics, taking the mystery out of what is essentially a very human intellectual endeavor.

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Truly, Truly, Awesome!!!
Revisado: 05-16-15
A must read...if you saw the movie, you have to read this book. The movie was great on it's own...and kept me on the edge of my seat even though I had already read the book. The great thing about the book is that it gives you a lot more background on Chris' earlier years and context to how he viewed the world and especially his enemies. Keep in mind that the book is comprised of the things that Chris CHOSE to share. The movie was based only a sub-set of things from the book that Clint Eastwood decided to share...really only the further sub-set of things he was comfortable sharing knowing Chris' Dad would come get him if he dishonored Chris' memory.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Revisado: 05-16-15
If you even remotely liked the movie, then you should read this book. The book (as typically the case) has so much more detail and context. The author does a superb job of getting you into Louis' head.

Couldn't get traction...
Revisado: 05-16-15
One of those books that I just couldn't "get going" with. The story unfolds like audio molasses...it continues to look like we might be headed to an interesting place and get some traction, but after 3 hours in...it was all still anticipatory. The narrator was decent, but there is only so much he could do with a less than exciting story.

Historia
Technological advances have benefited our world in immeasurable ways, but there is an ominous flip side: our technology can be turned against us. Hackers can activate baby monitors to spy on families, thieves are analyzing social media posts to plot home invasions, and stalkers are exploiting the GPS on smart phones to track their victims’ every move. We all know today’s criminals can steal identities, drain online bank accounts, and wipe out computer servers, but that’s just the beginning.

Any additional comments?
When the book starts out, it feels like the author might be a bit of an alarmist and "over the top"; however, you quickly start to realize that isn't the case and you best get yourself up to speed on a lot for the future. This is a very insightful and entertaining read. Also one of those books that you likely will listen to multiple times over the years.

I have never written a review before, but this book prompted the first. This author shares her insights which are not based on any science and frankly just thoughts that anyone might have. Don't waste your time or money on this book.
