Very sad story but we'll Written and performed
Revisado: 04-22-21
it was a great story of the death of a sweet girl and the birth of a horrendous queen.
The 3 stars for the overall is not for the skill of the author and narrator but a warning to those who prefer a happy ending.

My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead pets. Okay, so I see dead people on occasion, too, but it’s mostly sweet, fuzzy, long-departed cuties that I see clinging by their previous owner’s side. Trust me when I say this is not a good sign. So when I spot an adorable, fuzzy, little squirrel skipping around at the grand opening for my new bakery, I about lose it, until I realize it’s a perky little poltergeist only visible to yours truly.

Enjoyed the second book
Revisado: 05-31-19
I enjoyed the 2nd installment of this series. There was a change in the narrator between the first and second book. I enjoyed both but think I like Kiera Jordan just a bit more.
I hope more of this series are put on Audible.

Historia
My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, aka dead pets. And for some reason those sweet, fluffy albeit paranormal cuties always seem to act as a not-so-great harbinger of deadly things to come for their previous owner. So when I saw that sweet orange tabby twirling around my landlord’s ankles, I figured Merilee was in for trouble.

Dennis Mira just had two unpleasant surprises. First he learned that his cousin Edward was secretly meeting with a real estate agent about their late grandfather's magnificent West Village brownstone, despite the promise they both made to keep it in the family. Then, when he went to the house to confront Edward about it, he got a blunt object to the back of the head.

the best of an excellent series
Revisado: 08-22-15
I love this series. The characters are interesting and fun. The mysteries always take some twists and turns. But this one surpassed the 12 others.
I kept shouting at Abby who the killer was but she just would not listen. So I was able lto follow all the twists and turns of an emjoyable story with multiple mysteries ad still come out the other end feeling victorious for knowing who did it all along.
Brava Victoria for excellent story telling and Elizabeth for making it so real.

I stopped believing in monsters long ago. But I knew I wasn't imagining things when I found one in my kitchen baking muffins. I'd seen him before: lurking in my closet, scaring the crap out of my five-year-old self. Turns out that was a misunderstanding, and now Maurice needs a place to stay. How could I say no? After all, I've always been a magnet for the emotionally needy, and not just in my work as a wedding planner. Being able to sense the feelings of others can be a major pain.

SHE STILL HAS THE MAGIC
Revisado: 09-23-14
I have read a couple of reviews saying that the last couple of books have been flat. I am not sure what they are reading or expecting but any book that can take me from crying because of the sweetness of the Eve and Roarke to laughing at the outrageous antics of Mavis has not lost it's magic.
The growth of characters is exactly what keeps me coming back and wanting more. I have read other series in which you have the same characters in each book and the lack of growth stifled my interest in the characters, book and author. The in Death series does not have that problem.
The other complaint I have read says that someone else must be writing the books because the word choice shows a lack of futuristic tense. As we have been introduced to this world and time we have become knowledgeable about its language and terms so that may be what the other readers are seeing or maybe because we are getting closer to the time of this series our language is catching up. Either way I still enjoy a look to our close future.
Should Eve be promoted/ have a baby. I think those to events would come hand in hand and add another dimension to the story. I know JD Robb has said the series would be over if they had a baby but I would be interested in learning how they both add that dimension to their lives and see how they would need to adjust to a new situation. If it coincided with a promotion for Eve that took her off the streets and used her intuition and people skills to manage others during an investigation it could work. I know I enjoy her kicking butt however as people grow and learn they figure out how to accomplish their goals using new skills and it would be interesting to see how they change and grow. It could also get Peabody out on her own more so she has a chance to do the butt kicking and add dimension to her relationship with Eve.

Narrator is horrible
Revisado: 04-13-14
I have listened to many books and many narrators. Some I absolutely love and will try an author just because I love the narrator, some are so so, I can overcome listening to them because I love the story and get familiar with their style and don't notice it anymore. With this book I had read the story and liked it so I thought I would give the audible version a try because sometimes listening to the story brings out even more detail. I could not finish listening to the book. In fact it put so on edge I stopped liking the story.

like the stories hate the narrator
Revisado: 03-28-14
I enjoy the story and the characters but strongly dislike the narrator. Her voice grates on my nerves and I find I have to take a break from listening to the story because I keep getting irritated and snapping at people around me. I am reading one of the books on my kindle and I am not finding the same problem with irritation so I have to put it down to the narrator. I think I will continue the series in the written version and give up on the audible version.

HEART AND SOUL WRAPPED IN THE GIFT OF MAGIC
Revisado: 03-28-14
The gift of magic is not only the characters to own but also an author who understands how to be different and yet to be part of a whole. And a narrator who can carry the emotions and glory of being different by the inflections in her voice. Kudos to both for bringing Autism spectrum awareness to many who may not have been touched by it. And for showing to those of us who deal with it everyday the glory of being different but not less.
