Historia
Living as a Black woman in America, Lisa Victoria Fields understands the tension of relying on God in a broken world. While pursuing her calling in full-time Christian ministry—an often white, male-dominated vocation—she saw the contentions many people have with Christianity. She heard the theological questions, but instead of arguing for her faith, she listened to the barriers and heard the pain in their hearts: I’m not welcomed or wanted. There is no justice in this world. God didn't intervene and protect me. Doesn’t God want me to be happy?

Revisado: 03-17-25
This book addresses so many questions that nearly every Christian, whether new to the faith or experienced, will have to wrestle with at one time or another. Lisa tackles each one with a wisdom, grace, candor, and often humor that is enlightening, encouraging, uplifting, and humbling all at once.

Short but profound
Revisado: 03-11-25
I loved the insights and the very clear arguments for Christ's deity and His humanity, all of which were well supported by scholars. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for answers to often-posed questions from non-believers. It's clear, concise, and breaks the arguments down into bite-sized pieces.

Powerful account that kept me riveted
Revisado: 02-18-25
This was such an amazing book! I couldn't put it down, for lack of better phrasing. Qureshi paints such a beautiful picture of his faith both in Islam in the beginning, and ultimately in Yeshua the Christ at the end. It's a wonderful and beautiful testimony that had me in tears in more than a few parts. The arguments for each were very enlightening and will be helpful in my own journey of witnessing my love of Christ to others. I'm so grateful to have found this book and am looking forward to reading the other two. Rest in Heaven, Dr. Qureshi. I've no doubt you received your reward as a good and faithful servant.

Historia
Black women are the hidden figures in the church. Despite at times being rendered invisible, uninvited, and unprotected in a racist and sexist world, they are valued image-bearers and influential instruments in God’s redemptive plan. Church Girl invites you, as a Black woman, on a journey from the garden to the present day. Your unique story as a Black woman lies within the grand narrative of Scripture, and the message of the gospel is the light, lens, and love you need to help you see and live as God intends.

Good information, but not what I expected.
Revisado: 02-10-25
I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting, but I don't feel I learned anything new or came away with any real "Aha moments." There's good information in this book, but it felt a little light to me. Everything that was discussed seemed like things that women who are already deeply involved in their faith and faith institutions already know. I was looking for new, innovative insights and methods of tackling these issues. I was also distracted by the frequent mispronunciation of words. It made finishing the book a real task for me. In addition, the narrator's tone left me feeling like a child being read a bedtime story by a parent. It came off a little patronizing. Perhaps I'll enjoy it more if I just read it myself.
