Unnecessarily descriptive and useless backstory

This book was a disappointment! The title description sounded interesting but the book is actually a disaster.
The female lead is stupid, naive, and intolerable. 90% of the story is unnecessary descriptions and analogies. The author seemed to be trying to go for a beautifully complex intricate advanced minded female lead, but failed MISERABLY and it is almost comical how dumb the FMC sounds most of the time. The characters of the novel seem unreal and out of touch with reality with how they deal with things and think.
Don’t get me started on the 1800’s backstory that took up 85% of the plot, that is actually useless to the overall point of the book.
Plus, there is no mystery or thrilling aspect at all. Plot was extremely predictable.
Im gonna be honest, the only thing I enjoyed was picking apart how dumb everyone and everything was.

I like that there is a mystery killer POV. We get to see what they are thinking regarding the events that transpire. I don’t like how the “killer” reveal happened at the very end, but I enjoyed the twist! There are so stagnant moments but it’s an okay story overall.

This novel was more that what u expected. It has a great plot that contains and captivity story that is very realistic. I like how this book is not over the top sappy with unrealistic happy endings. It is a perfect novel that will have you not wanting to put it down!

The characters are so shallow and dense! The Male lead is a textbook alpha frat boy jerk who is unnecessarily disrespectful and rude. The female lead is a former fat girl who you would think hate his guts for how much of a jackass he is, but she too busy drooling over how hot he is. I don’t even want to finish the book. Also I kinda like the narrator voice but she doesn’t have any range. Can’t tell who is talking at some points.

I’m not sure why there is so many positive reviews for this book because it’s TRASH!!! Female lead is so weak minded and pathetic. All she thinks about is SEX! She is so DAMN horny she can’t even stand her ground with the pushy and overbearing male leads. It’s seems all she’s good for is fantasizing about being fucked and whining. The male leads are not any better. I think the narrator is fine though, but the book is a let down.
