Nice wrap up a little too easy
Revisado: 09-20-20
The series was very good and enjoyable. I am also a fan of the narrator who did another great job. My one critique would be how quickly success came given the enemy Technology base

Good closure- not necessarily an ending
Revisado: 10-27-19
While this brought the story arc to a solid conclusion. There are still many avenues he could explore in future books, however I am thankful he brought us closure on the series. Another excellent storyline.

Time well spent
Revisado: 07-26-19
The audiobook at over 20 hours seems daunting. However the pace is good and the story keeps moving. A good first book, it is also a solid stand alone for those looking for a Tolkien like story but easier to follow.

Stick with it
Revisado: 12-04-18
It’s starts a little slow, mainly for character development. In the beginning you may feel inclined to MoveOn but stick with it past the first few chapters and you will be pleasantly surprised. It is the first book I have listen to for this author. It Is good enough to seek out more.

Good start -looking to the next book
Revisado: 09-14-18
The book started by jumping right into action. The issue with that approach is the character development often falls secondary to the action adventure of the moment. Well it took a while to build some character development which at times felt like speed dating. Hang in there. It is obviously a series and while there was a conclusion to the first book there is plenty wide open to move forward including the almost necessary cliffhanger these days. I suggest giving it a chance.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

I admit I was beginning to wonder if the author can keep this up and the short version is "Yes, he can!" No spoilers here but if you like the series this could be one of the best.
That said, like all series jumping in at this book may make it hard to appreciate all the players as they show up with limited introduction (Claver)

Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive. Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others.... I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others - including John. But so are they....

Narration
Revisado: 07-22-17
The story is very promising for teen and adults. That said, the choice of narrator is troublesome. Chicago girls that sound like stereo typical Bronx girls, female voices from male narrator that sound child like for teens and adults, and inconsistent voices.
Candidly, if not for the story, the narration would have me pass. I understand those who do and that is unfortunate for the author and readers.
