Great book but give it up about the economic crisis

This was a great book and a really interesting read especially from a psychological perspective to see how two married peoples memories overlap and differ. That said it was excruciating listening to two theatre majors in college constantly complain about how the 2008 economic collapse killed their job prospects being oblivious that their choice in a college major was likely faaaaaar more complicit in their joblessness and underemployment than any economic crisis.

A great listen filled with interesting research, historical anecdotes and the authors opinions. Most were spot on and supported though I diverged a few times with her logic such as - while red hair is attractive on a female on a male it’s unattractive because males tend to try to be uniform which she cites how hairstyles on men haven’t changed in the last two generations. But I could also argue that excessive weightlifting and tattoos (both males trying to make themselves different and standout) is not uncommon. But again, amazingly entertaining and insightful book all around just be ready to occasionally say “ya, maybe not, at a few of the authors suggestions.

This book should be required reading for anyone with a wifi connection. It’s wild How much the line has blurred between fraudster and business mogul.

This is a tongue in cheek kind of book but full of some amazing stats. Few incidents of not fully flushed out and researched theories such as with the gender pay gap (which numerous studies across several countries clearly show is due to women leaving the work force or taking a lower paying more flexible job while raising children.) overall premise is great. If you’re in your 30s or 40s you’ll never look at your parents the same way again!

The message of this book is eye opening and the story is well told in an entertaining and insightful manner. It’s caused me to change some of my daily practices to be more health conscious but it’s also an example of why authors should NEVER narrate their own work. It’s not horrible and it starts to grow on you after a while but the book would have been so much enjoyable if it was read by a professional narrator.

This book was an amazing history of not just McKinsey but the consulting industry. It made me understand my work at another form that was named in the book much better. At least the theory of what they’re trying to accomplish or emulate.

This book is more than a surfers travel tale. It’s poetry, it’s a reflection on life and what surfing means to that life whether you’re on an endless surf quest or sneaking out early mornings before work to catch a few waves in New York City in January. I hated knowing that I was getting to the end of this book. I kept listening for shorter and shorter times trying to savor it like a fine wine. It’s that good. It’s just poetry.

Such an amazing book. It was just as much poetry and philosophy as it was a story and a mystery.

I really liked this book. Like some of the better Michael Crichton books it blended suspense with a heaping dose of actual science which had me Googling often while reading. The story was gripping and I’m not a huge monster book reader but definitely give it a shot. I’ll be looking for number two in the series to hit Audible.
