Historia
This hilarious novel describes one year spent on a small university campus in the United States by an Indian student. His English is comically Indian, and his initial notions of America are absurdly inadequate and stereotyped. The theme of the novel is his comic discovery of America and his own growth and maturing through the diverse adventures he encounters.

it's a good example of flight, fun, and somewhere insideful writing. Don't expect too much, but I did thoroughly enjoy the audiobook and listened it in two days working around the house. highly recommend

The American supermarket is an everyday miracle. But what does it take to run one? What are the inner workings of product delivery and distribution? Who sets the price? And who suffers for the convenience and efficiency we’ve come to expect? In this rollicking exposé, author Benjamin Lorr pulls back the curtain on this highly secretive industry.

Outstanding book, not counting a few minor issues
Revisado: 01-13-23
Excellent, extremely informative book.
Gives a great big-picture overview, but also lots of great behind-the-scenes stores,
The Author, apparently, went to a great length to collect his information, such as applying for a job at a grocery store, driving with a truck driver for a week, etc. -- all to see the industry from the inside.
A rare case when the author reading the audiobook (as opposed to a professional voice actor) kind of worked. The performance was not great, but acceptably good. Often, when authors try to read their own books, the results are very poor. Not this time - a solid A-.
Highly recommend.

Historia
When Scott Keyes booked flights to Italy for $130 roundtrip and Japan for $169 roundtrip, he didn’t just uncover amazing fares; it was the beginning of a new approach that makes travel possible for anyone who has dreamed of seeing the world. What’s stopping us all from traveling more? The confusion of buying airfare - not knowing when to book, where to buy, or what to pay. Take More Vacations is the guidebook for anyone hoping to turn one annual vacation into three.

Should have been one sheet with links
Revisado: 10-06-22
Does the book contain something useful? Yes, it does.
But the useful information provided in the book should have been put on a page and distributed as a blogpost or email, not as an 8-hour audiobook.
The first 1/3 of the book is basically yada-yada about the importance of taking breaks, traveling, seeing the world, how little we travel, how we think travel is expensive and this is why we don't travel, and how this book will teach you how to buy cheap tickets.
Then the book talks about how airfare pricing works, or rather says that whatever you knew before is not true. There is no best day to book, there is no best time of the day to book. Things change, so forget whatever you've heard before. The only lesson is that prices change, change unpredictably. And really good deals pop up once in a while. Randomly. That's it.
The whole book boils down to this one truly practical "advice":
Don't try to get an air ticked to a specific destination at a specific travel date. You won't find great deals like it.
Instead, use Google Airfares and similar services that will alert you about super deals to somewhere sometime when those deals pop-up. Never thought about going to Ireland in November? Well, neither did I, but one day a super deal popped up to Ireland in the second week in November, like 1/3 of a normal price, so I took it and it was a great vacation.
That's basically the secret. Be open about the destination and the date, and super deals will pop up from time to time, and when they do, buy them. By law, you'll have 24 hours to return your ticket, so buy and decide a bit later.
That's the book. There is really nothing else of truly practical value beyond this one advice.
So, if you're going to a wedding or a conference and you need a ticket to a specific place at a specific date, the book won't tell you how to get it cheaper. It'll recommend to try to buy separately ticked for the different legs of your trip, and check prices via Expedia etc vs. airlines direct, but the author warns you, you probably won't save much this way anyway, unless you're lucky.
So, that's it. This is the secret revealed in the book. The rest is just empty words to turn this one-pager into a book. Occasionally, the author mentions some mailing lists and websites where you can find these great deals, like his own mailing list, but since it's an audiobook, it's hard to memorize long URLs. But becuase Google Flights kind of does the same anyway, I am not sure if there is much value in these additional services. And you can get those links from the author's webpage.
Other than this, the book is sort of entertaining, and the author is very lickable. Just don't expect some insider secrets or tips "that the airlines don't want you to know". Nothing really beyond "be open about the destination and date, and a super deal will pop-up once in a while"

Like Michael Lewis' classic Liar's Poker, Jared Dillian's Street Freak takes listeners behind the scenes of the legendary Lehman Brothers, exposing its outrageous and often hilarious corporate culture.

Rather primitive, shallow
Revisado: 10-02-22
A primitive attempt to use foul language and present it as deep insight.
Too many detailed descriptions of irrelevant conversations, complete with all the f-words,
too many detailed descriptions of vomiting after partying,
too little actual deep insight and useful information.
If you want to learn how the LB traders talked and partied, I guess it's a good book. Although, you'll get a sense in the first 30 minutes, no need to stick around for the whole 12 hours.
But if you want some insightful analysis, I did not find much of it in the book.
Reads more like a cheap new-age novel than a insightful non-fiction book.

Historia
In his first book for a general audience, Mandelbrot, with co-author Richard L. Hudson, shows how the dominant way of thinking about the behavior of markets-a set of mathematical assumptions a century old and still learned by every MBA and financier in the world-simply does not work. As he did for the physical world in his classic The Fractal Geometry of Nature, Mandelbrot here uses fractal geometry to propose a new, more accurate way of describing market behavior.

Historia
Antonio Mendez and his future wife, Jonna, were CIA operatives working to spy on Moscow in the late 1970s, at one of the most dangerous moments in the Cold War. Soviets kept files on all foreigners, studied their patterns, tapped their phones, and even planted listening devices within the US embassy. In short, intelligence work was effectively impossible. The Soviet threat loomed larger than ever. The Moscow Rules tells the story of the intelligence breakthroughs that turned the odds in America's favor.

Great (while you read it. Forget instantly).
Revisado: 03-21-20
I truly enjoyed listening to the book. Even made a bunch of bookmarks and took some notes.
Very inspiring and convincing.
BUT it's been a few weeks since I read and I can't recall anything from the book.
Vaguely remember the good-old advice about creating To-Do lists, and blocking Facebook, and focusing on goals, and some other useful and important stuff... :)
What I mean is that yes, great advice, but don't expect to get much more productive just by reading the book.
And yes, while I can't recall much specific advice weeks after reading the book, I remember that when I was reading the book, I was thinking to myself that this book was more practical than most. Atomic Habits was also very good.
