Historia
Born to an American soldier and a Korean mother in the wake of the Korean War, Dave has spent his life struggling to blend his Korean roots and his very American upbringing. The family joins a conservative church that embraces a strict, rule-based faith, and they try to navigate life as one of the few mixed-raced families in their community. But when tragedy strikes, tearing the family apart, Dave is forced to face long-buried secrets that he can no longer ignore.

I loved that this was read by the author. It’s more meaningful to me this way. Appreciated the way he handled his trials with grace. It’s inspired me to want to do better in the wounds I have in my life. Thank you for sharing this. I know it’s not easy as a pastor to share things without feeling you’re sharing someone else’s story but you did that perfectly. Got to the essence without feeling catty. Loved it.

Historia
Jill and Derick knew a normal life wasn’t possible for them. As a star on the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Jill grew up in front of viewers who were fascinated by her family’s way of life. She was the responsible, second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle’s nineteen kids; always with a baby on her hip and happy to wear the modest ankle-length dresses with throat-high necklines.

Historia
A life-changing spiritual awakening freed Brian "Head" Welch from a stranglehold of drugs and alcohol and prompted him to leave the highly successful nu-metal band KoRn in 2005. What followed was a decade-long trial by fire, from the perils of fathering a teen lost in depression and self-mutilation to the harsh realities of playing solo and surviving the shattering betrayal of a trusted friend.

Any additional comments?
It's not often I finish a book in one day but I devoured his last book the same way. Brian's simple approach to the throne is one I admire and find familiar. His description and journey of faith reminds me so much of my Ernie. But anyone that believes once you 'meet Jesus' your life is easy won't enjoy this book. Turns out that's just when life started getting interesting for him and his daughter. With a new teenager myself I really loved this, I feel like it could almost have been a parenting book. Seeking counsel through social media addiction, his daughter turning into a cutter and all the angst of these hard years. He is a prayer answering God. In simple, real, honest ways. Highly recommend if you are strong in your faith, struggling, new, or don't know or care about God but like Korn. Because the reconciliation and peace they all experienced is definitely not of this world.
