it was an informative and pleasant read, on the types and science of focus, and its many applications. I only wish the book went into more detail on the HOW of focusing. t

I'll start by saying I was given this free copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Now, with that said. First off, I'll say as far as content goes, this book is wonderful. Admittedly, I have yet to complete the entire two parts, but as far as I've gotten it lives up to its name. It starts with focusing on being mindful of sense of self, as separate from one's mate, and builds on that theme logically, moving on to strength of EXPRESSING that self, and how to remain in contact with it. It helps a person emotionally connect with those parts of a relationship that are so difficult. To do the healthy, internal, heavy lifting before and during approaching another. All this while focusing on helping a person enter a deep meditative state. So five stars on the content.

As far as performance. There are calm, ocean waves and music in the background, which is always a plus. However, and this may just be a personal preference, there is something that feels inauthentic about the narration. Like she is trying a bit too hard to sound soft and gentle, where it would be more effective to just sound real. Soft, perhaps, but real. A little less "effort" to be a "relaxing" voice, and more towards expressing the ideas in a peaceful, but normal way. Again, it may just be a personal preference but I feel that would help me connect more.

Additionally, I had hoped there might be some conceptual explanation, perhaps between meditations. Some discussion of what it means, on an intellectual level, to be present in experiencing one's relationships and how to do that, and how that can be of benefit. Perhaps that just wasn't the intent of the book...the focus being ONLY guided meditations. But I feel some discussion could help enhance the experience.

All in all, the book is very helpful, deep, and a pleasure to listen to. There are a few minor adjustments that I would look for, perhaps in another addition? Either way, well done, and thank you!
