Historia
It's 1968 in the rural coastline town of Denton, Florida, and the only thing with a tougher life than 12-year-old Jack Turner is a starving dog named Bones. When they meet while Jack is fishing, Jack knows that he and Bones are meant for each other, and he promises his oft-absent alcoholic parents that he'll somehow get a job to pay for his new dog's food and care.

Great story!
Revisado: 04-06-23
I really liked this story! It caught and kept my interest. I could really imagine Jack’s struggles and ‘feel his emotional pain, frustration and disappointments.’ I really couldn’t wait to ‘hear the verdict.’ I don’t want to give this away for those who haven’t read/listened to the book!

Historia
A wonderfully quirky, heartbreaking, heart-warming, and thought-provoking story of a woman's dog who not only talks to her, he talks to God. Recently widowed Mary Fassler has no choice except to believe Rufus, the miniature schnauzer, who claims to speak to the Divine. The question is: Will Mary follow the dog's advice and leave everything she knows and loves? Is this at the urging of God? Or is it something else? Will Mary risk it all or ignore the urgings of her own heart?

Good. I enjoyed the story and it kept my interest.
Revisado: 03-15-22
I loved and enjoyed the story. Mary's struggles appear real and thought provoking. One could feel her fear with Rufus' accident, the crush of her disappointments, as well celebrate her happy moments. The most heart-felt bittersweet moment to me was her last talking conversation with Rufus.

Historia
Twenty-five years ago, Susan Prentice lost her mother to a tragic accident. Now she is returning home for the first time to Virginia's eastern shores and the ancestral house whose front steps her mother fell down to her death. Though Susan has little memory of the accident, her arrival has alarmed those who fear what may lie dormant in Susan's memory. But it is her maternal grandmother, Alex Montoro, a proud, intense, aging doyenne of the ballet, who believes that that memory must be unlocked.

One of my favorite authors
Revisado: 12-08-21
I have read Phyllis A. Whitney books for over 45 years. This book is an enjoyable read; it kept my interest as I tried to figure out who 'done it' and had a surprise ending like many of her books do.
