Another thrilling story from Mr. Greene!
Revisado: 06-18-19
It gets better with each new installment! I especially love some of the new character introductions in The Departing and I'm so excited that they are continuing their journey through the midwest! Keith Szarabajka is a fantastic voice actor and I've enjoyed listening to him all through this series- highly recommend!

Historia
A dismembered body in the park.... Grand Rapids Detective Bill DeYoung is an old-timer riding it out until retirement. A ravaged body in the park and a drunken witness are about to change his plans; so is the end of the world. The events happen concurrently with the first novel, End Time, but it can be heard at any point in the series to get exciting additional content on the origin of a main character.

The End Time Saga in fun-size!
Revisado: 06-18-19
I didn’t realize before I listened to ‘The Gun’ how much I was going to hope for an origin story for so many more of these characters! Who knew you could have so much character development in 80 pages or less?! It only took a few paragraphs for me to want more of these new characters and to be so invested in what is to come for them…although, if we’ve learned anything from Mr. Greene, it’s to not get too attached…

You either build your world or you burn in someone else's. With every fleeting moment, the whole world draws closer to being overcome by the deadliest virus known to man. Steele's family home lies in burnt ruins on the shore of Lake Michigan. His group hunts for his missing mother in the apocalyptic wilderness filled with the dead. Instead he finds a group of refugees badly in need of his skills learned in the shadow war on terror, for they are persecuted at every step by the Chosen, a group of fanatics hell-bent on creating God's Kingdom in the rubble of society.

Couldn't Stop Listening!
Revisado: 01-14-19
I was so excited to get my hands on the third installment after waiting a year and I was shocked with how much I loved it from start to finish (in one non-blinking day)! The Rising is an excellent study in character development and surprised me several times with the suspenseful storyline. The characters are faced with incredibly difficult choices and Greene continues to illustrate the human struggle that we might not have been able to imagine if it weren't for his ability to anticipate and describe the reality of this otherwise surreal situation and make it believably horrifying. I was upset that it was over (my eyes were not) and I can't wait to start Book Four!!

The Best Book You Will Buy This Year!
Revisado: 01-14-19
I was in love the first time I met Agent Mark Steele... on duty aboard a tensely shuddering aircraft, simultaneously suspicious and protective of everyone. It is evident immediately and throughout the story that Agent Steele's motivating factors are duty and love. His sense of duty to protect those in his charge is surpassed by nothing, save his love of Gwen. Theirs is a story of genuine love by flawed humans. This visceral relationship between Steele and Gwen illustrates a romance for the times.
‘End Time’ immediately grabs you and forces you to come face to shredded face with the darkest depths of humanity. It is a new and exciting take on a traditional zombie story that gets at the heart of humanity. Steele’s legion of modern day warriors are a lovable breed of operatives who exemplify the characteristics of honor, strength of mind, will of heart and endurance of purpose that we all want to believe are embodied in our protectors, with just a small slice of hate in their hearts necessary to target and eliminate the threats that terrorize us. I’m excited to see where this series will take us to escape the evil chasing us but also, the evil within us.
Greene's writing has a marked freshness, his pacing and dialogue are exceptional, and every scene is deftly handled. The quality of writing and energetic story telling make it difficult to believe that this is his first novel. This is a real craftsman at work. Those looking for a nuanced portrait of the inner struggles of flawed heroes will find plenty to admire in this promising debut from Mr. Greene. ‘End Time’ is the best book you will listen to this year.

Historia
The hunt is on to find Patient Zero... Both the East and the West Coasts of the United States have collapsed, and the US military is in full retreat. All their attempts to stem the tide of the dead have failed. Former counter-terrorism agent Mark Steele and his fellow survivors have been bushwhacked in the West Virginia hills. The fringe West Virginians are teaching him a valuable lesson in the new rules of the apocalypse. The mountain folk are as resilient as they are ruthless, and Steele must find a way out to save his people.

A Breath of Life in the World of the Undead
Revisado: 01-14-19
The Breaking is a dark and gripping thriller thanks to the writing skills of author Daniel Greene. These interwoven stories provide something for everyone; a band of loyal (mostly?!!) friends, lovers, scientists, federal agents and military to give us a bit of perspective from each but the individuality to remind us that people often don't fit in to our neat little boxes. Just when I thought we might be safely moving in to known territory, Greene takes us down an unforeseen path to his terrifying world where we couldn't have known we wanted to travel. I'm again in awe at Greene's fresh talent and ability to breathe life in to the world of the undead.
