Difficult to Follow

Where does The Time Traveler's Wife rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very confusing to follow as an audiobook. But wanted to see what makes this book a "national best seller" so I went a borrowed the paperbook from the library. The book has the dates and the main characters' ages which was somewhat helpful but did not take away the confusion of the time travel...which I guess is the point of the book. Having the book did not cause me to want to continue with the audio, nor compel me to want to finish the story. I am sad I am missing the whole point yet feel it's not worth investing any more of my time into the book. I hope to get a refund on my audible credit.

Received this free audiobook to listen to and comment on the soundtrack version; 1) I don't subscribe to this genre;2) there was nothing about the first chapter that would cause me to be interested in the story; 3) the foul language in the second chapter is an immediate turn off. I wish there was some book ratings with warning of foul or lewd language; 4) the soundtrack was more of a distraction than an enhancement. The music and sound effects were to me like buzzing insects I wanted to swat at to mute so I can concentrate on the story teller. I prefer to let my imagination create the scenarios. Thank you.

A Most Enjoyable Book

I look forward to my 5-mile walks when I have an entrancing story like this. Someone on my walks might have heard me make whining noises during some really intensely suspenseful parts. I fell in love with Maggie from the very first seconds of the audio--I've always dreamed of having a German Shepherd and this book allowed me to enjoy one vicariously. MacLeod Andrew's great performance brought out the heart and soul of each of the characters that engage and grab hold of the listener. I will listen to this book again and have been recommending it to my dog-lover family and friends.

The 4 stars for the story was for the language and the sexual content. I've been listening to the other books in the series and this story had more of the foul language and explicit sexual scenes that were disturbing than entertaining. It certainly did not add to the story. I hope the next books will not be as bad.

Re-do the audio book with Guidall.

Change the narrator to Guidall.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. Unfortunately, I paid for this book because I ran out of credits. After listening to the American Assassin and Kill Shot, I decided to start from the beginning of the series. I was forewarned by other reviewers about the poor narration but I was hoping to prove them wrong. My husband listen to the books to keep him awake during long driving trips. But we had to turn off this book because he started to get drowsy.

Any future Mitch Rapp audiobook purchase much have Guidall for the narrator. I hope the powers that be will decide to redo the old audiobooks with Guidall. Otherwise, we will read them to fill in the blanks of the series.

Would you listen to American Assassin again? Why?

Some parts are so fast paced I want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. My husband and I listen during 4-hour drives to visit college children. When we get to the campus, we'd sit in the car breathlessly waiting for the end of a chapter.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beyond the Farthest Star?

Lunchroom scene when Steven invites Ann to join him and his friends at his table. I love his steadfastness and good intentions could not be put off my Ann's gruffness.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Steven took Ann to meet his horse Midnight; the explanation for how Midnight got her horrendous scars and how his mother loved the horse to healing; all the while the readers are paralleling Midnight's woundedness with Ann's.

Who was the most memorable character of Beyond the Farthest Star and why?

Steven. Orphaned and raised by loving grandparents who taught him how to look beyond appearances and love unconditionally his friends and now Ann.
