Typical “bad” guy turns soft

I really liked the whole story except for 1 issue. Why do the bad guys that are supposed to be ruthless always act like kitty cats? Im going into book two hopeful that we get a real dirty bad boy🤞🏼
I had started this book a long time ago and lost interest. Im glad i came back to it bc its very good

First i have to profess my love for penelope sky. I absolutely adore her books. She does a perfect mix of dark with love.
***Heres the spoiler***
Why on earth would raven and Melanie go back to their same apartment after burning down the camp and releasing the prisoners? Obviously fender is going to go straight to get them. This drove me crazy through the whole book.
Also:
I just cant forgive fender for the needless “red snow”. I believe his soul could be redeemed but thats between him and GOD. As a fellow human there is no way he could i could forgive him. Honestly he seemed barely sorry. He was a great villain but i feel she wanted us to see him as a reformed bad guy but i dont buy it.
I cant stop thinking about these books and to me that is the sin of a fantastic author n story:))

I really liked giovanni. At first i thought i was going to LOVE the heroine but she turned out to be kind of senseless. The part where she confronts her brother was just a waste of a good opportunity for drama n action. She just came out looking dumb for just walking in Willy nilly🙄major eye-roll. However, i loved Giovanni even though he was totally controlling, etc...thats the kind of guy i like in a mafia romance.

Love dark but this is just not a winner

I really love dark books but im tired of the same old story: guy kidnaps girl. She is immediately turned into a simpering fool. Guy tries “breaks” her by spanking and tying her up. I could t finish it so i dunno how this ends but i suspect andres will have been traumatized in the past and they’ll end up in love. Yada yada. I am semi interested in what happens with the other fbi agents but not enough to continue🤷🏻♀️

Stacy gonzales was good as Catalina but her attempts at any other voice were torture. I almost had to stop when she did her moms voice. “Cattaaaaallliiinnnnaaaa”🙄

Could absolutely not stand catherine. She was weak n annoying. She needed to just get over some stuff n move on. Jackson was wayyyy to good for her. Loved jackson n mark. Narration was amazing. Love andi and the male was good. Why oh why do authors do the thing where all that is needed is one sentence to clear up everything, jackson literally just need to say “hey i have an ex wife” wouldnt have been a big deal. I guess catherine would’ve blown it out of proportion so maybe thats why🤷🏻♀️. Catherine would talk about how tough she is and can hold her own with anyone blah blah. When she attacked neil i was like ok maybe she does have some grit. Wrong, maybe thats the problem....she was inconsistent. One part she would stand up for herself n the next cry n run away. If she wasnt so annoying i would have loved this duet
