Historia
Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

A remarkable, heartwarming, empowering story
Revisado: 02-21-23
A remarkable, heartwarming, empowering story that needed to be told and heard about a phenomenal woman!!! Ms. Cicely Tyson!!! The immense gratitude I have not only for your legacy and commitment to blackness and womanhood but for taking the time to write it down! The parts that I felt most in my soul were the moments shared about your faith and gratitude for life and purpose. Very inspiring. I shed more than one tear over the wisdom shared in this narrative. Worth many listens.

Another classic will re- listen often!!
Revisado: 01-24-23
What can be said about this book?! The storytelling is powerful and it is a complete guide to gaining mastery. No fluff but still felt magical to hear the recounting of other pursuit and attainment of mastery. He dissected their actions and clearly laid out a detailed guide for your own pursuit. It was A great listen on 1.4x, personally I find most books are read too slow. But 1.4x felt more natural in case it ever starts to feel stale.

Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

This book is dense and amazing
Revisado: 01-14-22
I’ve read Think and Grow Rich 4 or 5 times now with plans to read it many more times in the future. It was that book that made me what to get this book. I love it but let me be clear it is dense!! And is not for people who haven’t started on a spiritual practical journey to success! But if you have this book is a wonder and a tool that I highly recommend. I listen to it on x1.5 speed tho because the pace is slow but the knowledge/ perspective is valuable

Loved the story but this is the best Narration I’ve heard
Revisado: 12-15-20
I absolutely adored the narrator of this story, made it an easy listen. She used different voices, accents, and so much inflection and dynamics. This story was great as well, a great pair (the story and the reader).
