This story is rife with toxic masculinity. Having to narrate #BlahBlahBlahOverAndOverAgainWasNotFunToListenTo. I think I got somewhere into the first chapter where the guy is super pissed off about having tweets go out about him being in a gay relationship and that pretty much DNF at the book for me. I was really surprised to see that this was released in 2021. You don’t have to be an ally, but in this day and age, if a topic is taboo or uncomfortable for you, as an author you should stay away from it.

Geese - I get playing hard to get, but WTF. Act your age, woman. And how’d she go from being okay to every man’s insatiable dream as soon as he’s there to witness it.
I stopped this ~50% in because I just couldn’t do another few hours of the back and forth.
As always, the sex was hot, but the characters are worse than high schoolers with the BS.

Nothing pulls a reader or a listener out of a story faster than an odd word choice. Having the heroine referred to her vagina as her do-dah, and having her think Eek! every time something interesting was about to happen was well over used. Otherwise the story was entertaining, there are many funny scenes, and memorable characters.

The Romance has no HEA or HFN, nor direction to continue the couples story on the next book. The story is pretty good, but the ending isn’t even close to satisfying...and the lack of communication between the two characters - #1 conflict in all romance - goes on for far too long. 12 hours of narration (narrator is very good) to end with no HEA/HFN or to have them go back and forth moaning with a bunch of unsaid...
That’s a long time...

Story is okay, but I have very much liked other stories by Lauren Layne, so I wonder if the problem here was the narrator. Her rendering of Cole’s voice—as well as the back and forth of the characters not opening their mouths and saying what was on their minds—made the male come off as very weak.
I was ready for this one to end.

Amazing and haunting

This is a well done story. Heartbreaking at times, and touching at others.
The narration was amazing. Bahni did such a great job and I really enjoyed her voices. I would listen to other books she narrates.
