My favorite book turned painful by this narrator
Revisado: 09-20-24
I absolutely loved this book, it was one of my favorites in the series. That being said, this narrator made it PAINFUL to listen to the story. she mispronounced Piscary and Takata. Jenks sounds like those parts were put thru a cheese grater, Ivys voice sounded the same as Rachels and Big AL, just ugh. ALWAYS CHECK THE NARRATOR AND LISTEN TO THE SAMPLE. 10/10 for the story and 1/10 for narration.

Historia
When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City's local authorities what they're dealing with. Only it's worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain - paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where's she's joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It's a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses "tiger" too strongly to ignore it.

Miss the old "prude" Anita, Love Kimberly Alexis
Revisado: 01-05-21
so I have read, really read and listened to all the Anita Blake books read by Kimberly Alexis. unfortunately, some of my favorites were done by a different narrator, and they were so horrible, I couldn't listen. for those of you who know this series well, you know that some of the last books before the stories are replaced mostly by smut, then you know why I begrudge the horrible narrating in books not done by Kimberly Alexis(who I love!) in the middle of the series, around books 10-15, give or take. I used to relate to Anita on so many levels, and loved the fantasy aspect, which I find would be my choice if her world were real, until she gets the Arduer and all the smutty complications that go with it. if she had just stayed her stubborn self, this series would have been so much better. I hope Laurell K. Hamilton realizes this, and gets back to her roots soon.

Historia
The early Anita Blake novels find new life in trade paperback-as perfect collectibles for long-time fans or as great ways for new listeners to sink their teeth into the series. In The Laughing Corpse, a creature from beyond the grave is tearing a swath of murder through St. Louis. And Anita will learn that there are some secrets better left buried-and some people better off dead...

miss the older books, new ones are just sex
Revisado: 12-17-20
to those of you who have not read this series;
you might want to read the first 8-10 books on your own before you listen, it makes it better when you already know the story, as Kimberly Alexis' voice judt doesn't match the Anita in my head.
for those of you who have read it;
what happened after the 10th book or so, i can reread the first 10 or so books, but after that, its just sex. I'm here for the story, the supernatural, the anger, the rage, the guns, the guts and the inner torment. I think that most of us who like the first 10 or so and not the rest as much, feel this way too, bcuz we can relate and fantasize that we would be her if the world was different. but once Anita becomes a sex addict with an excuse, I feel the need to skip pages/chapters, or it just gets to be too much. I am a big fan, have every book in hardcover, signed by Laurell K. Hamilton, and the paperbacks to actually read. i truly hope Laurell reigns some of this in soon, or I may give up. anyone else or am I being too hard on her??
either way, this is a great book, read and then listen to it.

Historia
Anita has never seen Damian, her vampire servant, in such a state. The rising sun doesn't usher in the peaceful death that he desperately needs. Instead, he's being bombarded with violent nightmares and blood sweats. And now, with Damian at his most vulnerable, Anita needs him the most. The vampire who created him, who subjected him to centuries of torture, might be losing control, allowing rogue vampires to run wild and break one of their kind's few strict taboos.

Love Anita, not sure about her sec life...
Revisado: 06-30-17
I have read every book in the series now, and I must say, I love Anita Blake the Vampire Hunter but I am not crazy about Anita Blake,.former prude and current slut. Idk why Laurel K. Hamilton felt the need to take the sex to this level, as it takes away from.the Vampire Hunting and Zombie raising. SPOILER ALERT...not one zombie was raised and she never actually hunted a vampire. I am sorry to say but this is the worst book in what has become my favorite series. I am truly heartbroken..is that strange??
