The story does not live to its potential. To top it off, the female voice sounds robotic and the male voice didn’t fit. Not happy all around.

I loved the first book because it was romantic and didn’t sell lust as love. That’s what this installment did. I don’t buy that they fell in love. The relationship felt awkward like the author tried to hard to make them fit. The hero didn’t seem to know what he wanted. One minute you thought he wanted a long term thing and then the next he seemed to be wanting a casual thing. It’s like the author was forcing him to think he was in love. Spoiler alert: the big romantic gesture at the end actually made me mad. She spent 2 days in a coma and you were out looking for a boombox to serenade her. Please, based on his previous behavior he should have been by her side. And there were plenty of times that they could have said what was on their mind without forcing the conversation and they didn’t. This was to add needless drama. Honestly, if they concentrated more on the investigation and let the relationship take its course, it would have made a better story.

I was also disappointed that this wasn’t V’s or J’s story. We got hint of that in the previous book but were left hanging. Granted, that did not influence my star rating.

Like I mentioned before, the investigation needed more substance. D is all upset for these girls all he seems to do is have sex with I. You would think he would be looking for those church bells or investigating, etc. that whole part was so needless, the book would have been better without it. I still don’t get why they were trafficked.

Finally, the voice talent was great except when the female voice did the voice of D, the accent sounded like Count Dracula. I couldn’t get over it. Otherwise, the voice talent was great.

I thought the narration was great, as for the story….
So if you read the first two books then you read this one. This couple doesn’t give you anything new. I’m very confused about why there was drama and the whole work aspect of this really bothered me. It got in the way of the love story. Which there was no love story. They have great sex, and suddenly they are in love. That’s it. I get that maybe they realize they want more than sex, but I didn’t think they fell in love with each other.

Great narration… story needed a little more

Best part of this was the narration. Most male narrators have the tendency of making the female characters sound annoying. The tone they use while the female character speaks reminds me of a petulant child. Not here. The voice talent was really good. Not perfect, but so much better than most.

As for the story, I totally feel for Hannah, but Mason’s heartbreak leaves me wanting. In fact I see so many red flags I was hoping Hannah ran for the hills. It’s a short novel, and it all might have worked better if it was just Hannah who was working through a heartbreak.

For the rest, it’s a romance novel. Everything happens way too fast and everything is perfect. Glad the author chose to only use their inner demons for the conflict.

Typical omega verse story with really bad narration

Ok. This story is what it’s supposed to be, except it’s not really that dark. If you are looking for your typical alpha sniffs omega and they Rut and live happily ever after... this is it. No surprises and the writing is average. If you are new to the genre you might disagree, but I read enough of these stories to feel I can say it. What is awful was the narration. His female voices sounded like Tina from Bob’s burger. They all sound so fake. Also the protagonist comes out monotoned. Just Makes for a dry listen. I think I would have thought better of the book of I had read it.

I had read another book by this author and thought it was good enough to give this a try. This was disappointing. The story has serious flaws. There is no growth in the characters. She is happy one day and ready to leave the next. I get she was pissed but there weren’t enough offenses to let you think that she would just walk away. Then there is how she just walks away. There is no fear that the tribe will attack the humans after she goes back. She essentially violated their treaty.

The narrator wasn’t a good fit either. Every time she spoke as the main character she sounded like she was yelling. Then for another character it sounds like a loud whisper. It was annoying.

Save your credits. This one isn’t worth it.
