Historia
Reverend Willie Maxwell was a rural preacher accused of murdering five of his family members for insurance money in the 1970s. With the help of a savvy lawyer, he escaped justice for years until a relative shot him dead at the funeral of his last victim. Despite hundreds of witnesses, Maxwell's murderer was acquitted—thanks to the same attorney who had previously defended the reverend. Casey Cep brings this story to life, from the shocking murders to the courtroom drama to the racial politics of the Deep South.

Revisado: 05-16-23
this boot tells u about so many people and in such detail but it isn't about anything. I'm half way through and it's told me nothing. the narrator is great but the story is just not there. the idea is but I haven't gotten the information I was after.

Historia
In 1971, Go Ask Alice reinvented the young adult genre with a blistering portrayal of sex, psychosis, and teenage self-destruction. The supposed diary of a middle-class addict, Go Ask Alice terrified adults and cemented LSD's fearsome reputation, fueling support for the War on Drugs. Five million copies later, Go Ask Alice remains a divisive bestseller, outraging censors and earning new fans, all of them drawn by the book's mythic premise: A Real Diary, by Anonymous.

I'm glad I listened!
Revisado: 03-08-23
the books this is about make me sick. I was a kid/teen in the 80's and I remember the panic and how crap like the Alice book made parents cops and idiotic Dr's put innocent people in jail for abuse. I remember how at school we were talked to about if our parents were hurting us to tell and being told regular punishments were more than just a spanking. it was a nightmare that people like the Sparks woman and many others helped to create because they wanted to feel important or just because they were stupid. I'm glad this book was openly honest about where the information came from that some was opinions other was information from friends and some, was from libraries and the internet. it was presented as a fact based book of a child's diary written by a so call PHD who was nothing of the sort. there's alot of information and it's not all blood and gore if that's what you are looking for. it's about how an author lied and manipulated the world with several books selling them as factual and everyone helped her do it. and it hurt alotta people. I won't say it didn't scare some kids away from drugs. but there could've been a more honest way to do so. I had a friend in Jr high die of an OD and I'm appalled by the Alice author for this.

Revisado: 05-04-22
I've enjoyed a time to kill 5he book and now audio. I also loved the movie. the king of torts is why I could only give a 4. I really didn't care for the story or the mc. he was a lawyer who seemed just so stupid and like most lawyers soulless and greedy even though he would think at times what the right thing to do was but ignore it until he had no choice. not my thing. narrator was good but Frank muller will always be a favorite RIP 🙏

narrator is awful!!!the female mc is a whiner
Revisado: 04-17-22
I love other books by this author, this was a struggle.i like the idea tho. wish that the female mc wasn't always such a downer and so weak. and the way she is towards him is just so ridiculous I'd leave her on her own if I were him. ms. frost writes good stories but really needs a new narrator.

Matthew Hanson is a forensic phonetician and the best audio profiler in America. He is able to create a psychological and visual profile of people using only tones, noises, dialects and voice colours. Thanks to him, some of the most dangerous criminals are in jail. Blackmailers, hostage-takers, assassins, the critical evidence that brought them to justice - short audio recordings. Hanson is fascinating, charismatic, difficult to see through. And: he is in solitary confinement.

Historia
True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. It would be perfect, if not for the fact that decades earlier, at this very house, two people were murdered in cold blood and a girl disappeared without a trace.

Im so glad I got this book. it goes in different times past and present. but it's easy to keep up with the story. I was thinking king it was one person most of the way into the story and bam I was wrong. plenty of twists and suspense. really good narrative. I just really enjoyed this book and will try more from this author. I've already told several ppl to try the book b4 I even finished it. I recommend it. I bought it so this was my own idea to leave a review

I love horror and suspense but this was just beyond what I thought! I went in thinking I'd like it but not understanding just how much. The author really did great with this book. the narrator was awesome also. I recommend this book to anyone no matter what their genre its a great time for all. and I've also gotta say I have respect for the navy's men (&now women)who endure anytime in subs but long-term like 3 months you have nervers and b***s of steal!
I couldn't do it 5mins!
