Historia
Grady Adams lives a simple, solitary life deep in the Colorado mountains. Here the 35-year-old carpenter works out of a converted barn, crafting exquisite one-of-a-kind furniture. There's little about this strong yet gentle man to suggest the experiences that have alienated him from the contemporary world. But that is about to change.

Huh?
Revisado: 12-03-09
This was my first Koontz read and now I can say it will probably be my last. In the end I was left feeling like I had invested my attention in hours of a story that could have been told in less time. A lot of buildup to nothing. Too much cutesy dialog. Too many formulaic cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. I alternated between reading the hardcopy of the book and listening to the audiobook in my car. My biggest gripe is with the narrator of the audiobook. Just my bias but I just want an audio book read to me. I'm not interested in hearing the narrator trying to put on a one-person show doing voices and accents that range from an Ivy Leaguer who sounds like Thurston Howell from Gilligan's Island and an African American character that started out sounding sounding like Foghorn Legghorn from the Bugs Bunny cartoons. I almost couldn't listen.

Historia
The cause of the devastation is a phenomenon that will come to be known as The Pulse, and the delivery method is a cell phone. Everyone's cell phone. Clay and the few desperate survivors who join him suddenly find themselves in the pitch-black night of civilization's darkest age, surrounded by chaos, carnage, and a human horde that has been reduced to its basest nature...and then begins to evolve.

Narration drove me nuts!
Revisado: 07-21-08
I found the different voices that the narrator used for the different characters to be quite distracting. But more than that, it sounded like there was some really sloppy editing. The narrators voice occasionally is replaced by a completely different sounding voice, speaking a few words or lines. Sounds like they were trying to use recordings from different takes. Nothing wrong with that but it's so sloppy it became annoying after a while.

A rambling collection of useless information. Very upset that I wasted my $$$ on this snake oil. If I could give it ZERO stars, I would!
