Excellent unpacking of character arcs. Clear, concise, yet filled with compelling examples she takes the time to unpack. Often, writing books use only one type of example- all fantasy or all romance- but this author uses a variety of TYPES of examples. She also uses both novels and movies, classic and contemporary.

Historia
The Resurrection accounts of Jesus in the Gospels are the most dramatic and impactful stories ever told. One similarity unites each testimony - that none of his most loyal and steadfast followers could "see" it was him, back from the dead. The reason for this is at the very foundation of the Christian faith.

Historia
This is not an audiobook about Saint Augustine. In a way, it's an audiobook Augustine has written about each of us. Popular speaker and award-winning author James K. A. Smith has spent time on the road with Augustine, and he invites us to take this journey, too, for this ancient African thinker knows far more about us than we might expect. Following Smith's successful You Are What You Love, this audiobook shows how Augustine can be a pilgrim guide to a spirituality that meets the complicated world we live in.

Faith, philosophy, and hope
Revisado: 02-09-24
Great connections between postmodern philosophy and Christianity as seen through Ausustine’s life and work. Ultimately, the hope held out by Augustine of new life is powerfully juxtaposed with modern life.

Historia
Mere Hope offers the core, Christ-centered perspective that all Christians share, and that Christians alone have to offer a world filled with frustration, pain, and disappointment. The spirit of the age is cynicism. When our leaders, our families, and our friends let us down at every turn, this isn't surprising. But we need another perspective; we need hope. Rather than reflecting resigned despair or distracted indifference, author Jason Duesing argues, our lives ought to be shaped by the gospel of Jesus - a gospel of hope.

Historia
Some 500 years ago, Sandro Botticelli, a painter of humble origin, created work of unearthly beauty. An intimate associate of Florence’s unofficial rulers, the Medici, he was commissioned by a member of their family to execute a near-impossible project: to illustrate all 100 cantos of The Divine Comedy by the city’s greatest poet, Dante Alighieri. A powerful encounter between poet and artist, sacred and secular, earthly and evanescent, these drawings produced a wealth of stunning images but were never finished.

Engaging and well-written exploration of and connections between Botticelli and Dante, the great painter and writer, respectively. Great and approachable bio of Botticelli’s life, and the legacy of his work until the present moment. Always fascinating to see how artists works are viewed across time. In addition to its quality is this books rarity, as bios pf Botticelli are in audio format, and not too common in other formats either. Excellent from start to finish.

The good news is Start gives listeners practical, actionable insights to be more awesome, more often.
