Historia
The attractive redhead at the A&P checkout counter opens her checkbook and begins writing a check, unaware that she’s signing her own death warrant. The man behind her in the dark overcoat memorizes the address on her check. When she leaves the A&P, he follows her home. In the next few weeks he tracks her every move...and when she rebuffs his advances, he stabs her. Five women, chosen at random, fall victim to a man the press dubs the Hyena. The NYPD has no leads until young Babette Watson walks into homicide detective Max Segal’s office.

I rolled my eyes the whole time....
Revisado: 02-25-14
This book is soooo cheesy I found myself rolling my eyes with almost every line Babette speaks! No one is really that naive and insecure! The narrator did a decent job of creating all the different characters, but the writing was so cheesy I couldn't believe it. That being said, I still HAD to listen to the end. Its one of those books you only half way listen to, then you tune in for a while, then back out.

Story isn't bad...the narrator however is awful
Revisado: 01-27-14
OK, so the story isn't a real page turner, but when you listen to as many books as I do you realize not all of them can be grea. This story line isn't so bad, kinda predictable, but not bad. The narrator is so bad, I can't finish the story! How old is she - 12? She overacts at inappropriate times, cannot do a male voice, and seems to have no real talent. I'll stop listening to this one and maybe pick up the story in paperback.

Historia
The last thing Boston Detective D. D. Warren remembers is walking the crime scene after dark. Then, a creaking floorboard, a low voice crooning in her ear… She is later told she managed to discharge her weapon three times. All she knows is that she is seriously injured, unable to move her left arm, unable to return to work. My sister is Shana Day, a notorious murderer who first killed at fourteen. Incarcerated for thirty years, she has now murdered more people while in prison than she did as a free woman.

Make sure you have some uninterrupted time! Enjoy
Revisado: 01-15-14
I've listened to all of Lisa Gardner's books and especially enjoyed the D.D. Warren series. This book doesn't concentrate so much on D.D., but instead told a great story of someone who cannot feel pain. No, the book is not realistic I suppose - but I wasn't reading True Crime. Yes it has a dark subject, but most murder mysteries do. If you listen for pleasure like I do, you'll love it. I really enjoyed the performance by Kirsten Potter.

Historia
On a frigid New Year’s Eve in Minneapolis, a young woman’s brutalized body falls from the trunk of a car into the path of oncoming traffic. Questions as to whether she was alive or dead when she hit the icy pavement result in her macabre nickname, Zombie Doe. Unidentified and unidentifiable, she is the ninth nameless female victim of the year, and homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are charged with the task of not only finding out who Zombie Doe is but who in her life hated her enough to destroy her. Was it personal? Or could it just have been a crime of opportunity?

Good book, horrible narrator!
Revisado: 07-22-13
When will I learn to pay attention to reviews commenting on narrators. I liked this book, I liked the story, I even liked the characters and will look to see if its a series but if its the same narrator, forget it! Nothing worse than a bad narrator trying to do a teenage girl's voice! Oh well, at least I know I can return it!

I liked this book. It wasn't the best book ever, but it was nice, light, and easy to read. Its one of those books you can just sit back and listen without getting too wrapped up in it.

Historia
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Its OK, not great but not terrible
Revisado: 06-13-13
Would you try another book from Blake Crouch and/or Phil Gigante?
Maybe, I'll have to see about the narrator. The story was interesting but I really started hated the narrator's female voices.
What did you like best about this story?
It was a fast paced book.
How could the performance have been better?
This narrator had a really poor female voice. They came off as being super whiny.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Call in sick to work..you need to listen!
Revisado: 06-13-13
What did you love best about NOS4A2?
WOW - what a great way to spend 19 hours. I enjoyed every minute. This is one of those books you'll sit in your car even after you get to where you're going, you'll want to call in sick just so you have the time to listen, go to bed early so you have the peace & quite to really enjoy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of NOS4A2?
Hard to pick just one memorable moment without giving anything away.
What does Kate Mulgrew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She was GREAT. Her voice as Mr. Manks was so super creepy. I will hear that voice in my head every Christmas.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was scared at times, laughed out loud, and even cried at times.
Any additional comments?
My biggest problem with this book was that I wanted to keep listening, but that meant I was always drawing closer to the ending so I had to try to "save" it. Can't wait to read another book by Mr. Hill.

Not Rebecca Soler - she was awful!
Would you be willing to try another one of Henry Leyva and Rebecca Soler ’s performances?
No
Any additional comments?
I really wanted to like this book; I like alot of Ted Dekker's books. The Sanctuary just isn't one of them. I'm not sure why the whole book had to be G-Rated, after all most of the book took place in prison! The female narrator's voice sounded as if she were barely in high school and her cadence was way off.

Don't waste your credit!
Revisado: 01-08-13
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kevin Foley?
I don't think anyone, not even Scott Brick, could have made this book better!
Any additional comments?
At first I thought this book was bad because they chose a male narrator even though the main character is a female (and most of the others) however the more I listened the more I realized how bad the writing really is! I couldn't believe some of the dialog between characters. The main character was whiny, illogical, and the dialog so cheesy it made me angry. I'm not sure who should be more ashamed, the writer or me for actually listening!
