I can't get enough of this series - as is my truth with all the series by Orson Scott Card I've read thus far into my discovery of his limitless gift of writing. Captivating and endearing. I'm hooked.

meh
Revisado: 11-01-16
overall, I enjoyed this novel, I didn't love it though. Wil gives a fantastic performance and that is always enjoyable. I have an issue with story though as it begins to feel forced about 2/3 of the way through. At the end I feel like the story was a beta release to be finished later. Don't get me wrong, this book was great just not as fantastic as some of Scalzi's other novels.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

thankfully predictable
Revisado: 06-17-16
I really liked this book despite being able to predict almost every turn... but then I did play a lot of video games as a kid. Come to think of it, this title would make a good video game...
On performance, I have to admit that at first I found Wil's reading a little lacking, although in what I couldn't tell you, but I very quickly became immersed in the story and his performance really made that possible. I have one real gripe, the voice he used for Og did not match his character... sorry Wil, fantastic otherwise!
As a child of late 80s and early 90s whose older sibling was truly a 80s child and thus my reference of assimilation, I immediately found connections with the characters in the book. I also loved all the throwbacks to some of my favorite authors and the way Cline's style flows with the story. You really get a sense that he documented this story as an experience rather than trying to force a plot into it. I really appreciate that and I think you, the reader of this review, will too.

spooky and enthralling
Revisado: 02-15-16
The narrator does a great job with this Stephen King signature. Tommyknockers knocking on your door... I love how King fills the space between the book covers with a story about 1 person and the situations they face. There are very few characters you get to know but don't care, it's all about the one, unlike any other. Edward Herrmann, I hope you sought some psychiatric help after embodying Gard for this book. Great all around, excellent to listen to.

nice but a little meh as the trilogy closer
Revisado: 12-26-14
First, the male narrators did a fantastic job and were clear even at 1.5x, the speed at which I listen. Orson Scott Card is a master storyteller which is why I am a little disappointed in this book as the trilogy closer. This book could easily have been expanded into two volumes. Maybe all the time slicing events got too much for the editors and so they cut out a lot of interesting information? In any case, the story wraps up almost like reading a list of events and starts falling apart with the aliens. That being said, the story was still enjoyable and nobody has style like Mr Card.
