Historia
The concluding book of The Dandelion Dynasty begins immediately after the events of The Veiled Throne, in the middle of two wars on two lands among three people separated by an ocean yet held together by the invisible strands of love. Harried by Lyucu pursuers, Princess Théra and Pékyu Takval try to reestablish an ancestral dream even as their hearts grow in doubt. The people of Dara continue to struggle against the genocidal Lyucu as both nations vacillate between starkly contrasting visions for their futures.

Fans of politically driven with strong character driven fantasy epics should not sleep on this. What an amazing series with a perfect ending. So, so good!

1 Star deducted due to lack of editor!
Revisado: 04-13-25
Another 5-star book but Im deducting a star because of the weird detour in the third act of the book for a really boring cooking competition. i mean, what? By the end of the book you find out why that plot device was used but it could’ve been done in a more concise way. Otherwise another great book in the series.

Worthy to be in the same class as Game of Thrones
Revisado: 04-03-25
Ever since I finished reading Song of Ice and Fire (twice) Ive been searching for a book that comes close to it,. This one does. It has some of the same elements: strong characters, strong female leads, a mysterious "other" people or force that threatens the main plot line characters and did I mention dragon-like creatures? Whats not to like?

Historia
Wily, charming Kuni Garu, a bandit, and stern, fearless Mata Zyndu, the son of a deposed duke, seem like polar opposites. Yet in the uprising against the emperor, the two quickly become the best of friends after a series of adventures fighting against vast conscripted armies, silk-draped airships, and shapeshifting gods.

Very Close to an Epic
Revisado: 03-19-25
As a lot of others have already mentioned, there are a lot of similarities here with the unparalleled Song of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones). I feel that while this book comes close to it, it falls short by perhaps the author's inexperience in writing (I believe this is one of his first books)... ? Characters were not fully allowed to develop, and more time spent on building the relationship between the two protagonists would have made the rest of the story feel more emotional.
That being said, I hear that the story as well as the writing gets better as the series goes on. So Im diving straight into book two.

Historia
Ninety-one-year-old Gretel Fernsby has lived in the same well-to-do mansion block in London for decades. She lives a quiet, comfortable life, despite her deeply disturbing, dark past. She doesn’t talk about her escape from Nazi Germany at age 12. She doesn’t talk about the grim post-war years in France with her mother. Most of all, she doesn’t talk about her father, who was the commandant of one of the Reich’s most notorious extermination camps. All The Broken Places moves between Gretel’s girlhood in Germany to present-day London as a woman haunted by the past.

Incredible
Revisado: 02-16-25
So many layers to this complicated story. The characters are real and human, that make decisions real humans would make. One of the best books Ive read this year.
My only regret is not having read The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas before reading this book. Needless to say now that Ive finished this book I have just started reading that one.

Epic Conclusion
Revisado: 02-09-25
Even though I though the 3rd act was a little rushed, the conclusion was very satisfactory. There's a lot of threads that could be further explored in sequels if Hugh wanted to... I still however think that the second book of the trilogy is by far my favorite.

Historia
In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platforms that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate. In the same year, the CBS network re-aired a program about the effects of propranolol on sufferers of extreme trauma. A simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event. At almost the same moment in humanity’s broad history, mankind discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall. And the ability to forget it ever happened.

Best Book of the trilogy
Revisado: 02-02-25
This book is a rollercoaster that spans so many timelines and POVs - all threads that get expertly woven into an amazing conclusion. It shows what a great writer Hugh Howey is! Im currently re-reading the books I read more than 6 years ago and these new audiobooks read by are perfect!

Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Revisado: 01-26-25
I read these books when they first cane out and was instantly immersed in this world. I was so happy to hear they made it into a show. The AppleTV series is amazing. Im currently rereading (in audiobook format) the series before the third season starts.

Historia
Nothing about Semiramis's upbringing could have foretold her legacy. Born to a woman scorned by Aphrodite and raised as an orphan on the outskirts of an empire, Semiramis was never meant to hold power. But that does not mean she was not made for it. When she meets a young representative of the new Assyrian king a path unfolds before her, one that puts her in the midst of a brutal world and at the heart of two men raised as brothers—one who just happens to be king.

Excellent!
Revisado: 01-21-25
After enjoying Clytemnestra I was looking forward to this and those of us in the IS had to wait an extra few months for the audio version and it was worth the wait. I loved how multi-layered the characters were. I sometimes found myself even doubting Samiramis’ true intentions behind her actions. Really the mark of a well written, human characters.
